Last week I finished the singleplayer campaign of Cod2. Two days ago I wanted to play it again. When loading a mission, 4 of 5 times I crash to desktop:
DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error. Read the directX FAQ for detailed information.
I read the FAQ. Did what it said, but allas, didn't help me out.
I read the support section of the official (Activision) site. Again it didn't resolve my problem.
Latest drivers for my soundcard (Realtek AC'97), videocard (6600GT), motherboard (nForce 3) are installed. Also tried out older versions of video drivers and sound drivers.
Uninstalled the game, cleaned my register, reinstalled the game.
Then installed the latest release of DirectX 9c.
Still the same error.
I read some other forums and I believe theres only a few people that encounter this problem. Till now there's no one with a sollution.
I've got the same error even with a 6800gtu
The weird thing is that I'm able to start and end the first level in dx9 mode
My drivers are the latest 81.94
Any ideas?
No one of the related solutions on nvnews or other pages worked
