http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=156836

Farstone claims on their product description of VirtualDrive 10 Pro to have beaten the Starforce 3 copy protection. The software is a CD/DVD drive emulator and allows you to use images made from CD or DVD discs on your hard disk but with the behaviour of a CD/DVD reading capable device. This can be useful to decrease loading times or when you just don't want to swap discs.

Unfortunately many copy protections are trying to disable this kind of software or make sure the software they protect don't run on emulated drives as many emulation software make it possible for users to play from e.g. downloaded images. Starforce is one of the these copy protections which seemed till now unbreakable.
What's New in version 10?

Improved Game Compatibility: VirtualDrive supports more PC games than any other CD emulator. Supported titles include Madden 2006, Dungeon Siege, Sacred Gold, Advent Rising, and Doom 3
Enhanced Disc Support: VirtualDrive copies and converts CD-ROMs, audio CDs, mixed-mode CDs, photo CDs, video CDs (DVD-ROMs data-mode), and unencrypted video DVDs
Custom Virtual CD Creation: Compile your own virtual CD that contains favorite tracks, documentation, expansion packs, and custom programs
Greater Copyright Protection Support: VirtualDrive supports most major copyright protections, including SafeDisc 1 & 2, SecuROM, Laser Lock, CD-Cops, SecurRom 5, SecuROM 7, and Starforce 1/2/3
More Intuitive GUI: Create and manage virtual CDs in user-friendly interface that even a novice can understand

Not worth the time it takes to install. It's bloated. It only supports it's own Virtual-CD-format, and you get a whole lot of silly pop-ups on the desktop "INSTANT BURN"-button, "INSTANT WIPE YOUR ASS"-button, et cetera.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

But I like having something instantly wiping my ass.

Besides that, Starfucker hides IDE drives on most systems just fine anyways.

Stubbs the zombie aint starforce protected. With securom you can hide your optical ide drives with starfuck etc.,but not with new starforce games.

The entire point of my very first post in this thread was to simply point out that starfucker does indeed hide your IDE drives.

Starfucker will work with any protection scheme that checks to see if their are any SCSI drives, and if there is, will then force the user to use the game on any present IDE drive. So what starfucker does, is hide the IDE drives on the OS level. The newer versions of starforce bypass this though by going to the hardware level and checking.

This means that ANY current safedisc or securom game that does a drive check, will work if you use starfucker.

Starfucker is the old version of Starforce nightmare, so it's available, but I would think SFN is the best solution.

weird thing... my harddrive (partitioned in half, if that matters) is a SATA drive, i can see this in my bios.

my two cd rom drives are on a primary IDE controller (PATA)... for some reason it shows my HD as being on an IDE controller...
