Modchip? There isnt one yet, is there? You can put games on your memory card and play them providing you have the 1.50 firmware or less and also an iso loader.

May the NFOrce be with you always.

He has plans for buying a PSP...I thought almost all the new shipment of PSP's has firmware 2.01 which isn't downgradable for homebrew.

Hmmm good point. He should go for Ebay or something to ensure he gets 2.00 or less.

Lets talk about it again ^^ I need a iso loader? How does it work when i have a game? And which games work on Firmware 1.5?

There are only 2 games the currently dont work with UMDEMU or Fastloader. To run either of theses iso loaders you need fw1.50. Iso loaders are kinda self explanatory. Run the iso loader, pick the iso to load. Done. Some ISO (A few) require some options to be turned on. Ie copy load vs direct load.

GTA and Socom. (I think Smile ) are the only 2 non-working games since the rest (Like the husler) have now been patched.

there are some like LOTR that you have to use some work arounds.

no, monster hunter doesn't work apparently, but thats the jap version. no idea if the yank version will work...

there is no psp mod chip, and i honestly doubt there ever will be (i cant imagine theres enough room left inside for one...) - if you play to play pirated media, make SURE of what your buying before you buy it - ask to check first before you buy at any store, but if they say you cant check first, then your best bet might just be ebay, and getting a 1.5 or a 2.0 from there.

Havent heard about monster hunter, so your probably right chiv. But yes supermax, so far those are the only isos that i have encountered any problems running.

Make sure your PSP is 1.50 -2.00 like chiv said; anything higher than 2.00 and your SOL for homebrew right now.

Any *new* psp will be 2.1, unless your so utterly lucky.. but I doubt you will be. Gigapacks will be over 2.0 without a doubt.

There is no current meathod to downgrade above 2.00. If its 2.01 you cannot downgrade, but they are hopefully working on it.

new downgrader (beta or final, im really not sure) to downgrade from 1.5 to 1.0 is around... 'apparently' it only works on original 1.5's (not downgraded...unsure if it works on upgraded ones though...)

why carea bout 1.00? because it runs unsigned code, which means it will be the platform for launching, i believe, fully hacked firmware that should pretty much run anything... all i know is...(wise man say...)... i aint touching anything like that untill a good couple hundred other people have used it for a few months and reported no bad problems Very Happy

I cant see why there would be a difference between the two types of PSP, but there could very well be issues I am not seeing. Still, I expect that we will find out either way in the comming days.. *crosses fingers*

two types of psp's? you mean native 1.5 and downgraded?

well i can see a difference between a normal sony 1.5 and a downgraded psp - i think we could all agree messing with the firmware in any way OTHER than how sony intended, is going to have an effect, and that effect just might be one that screwes up when it comes to trying to further downgrade.

but i honestly dont see why it shouldn't work for 1.0's that were upgraded to 1.5's, because there should be NO difference between a sony-produced legitimate 1.5 update, and a native 1.5 psp... atleast i HOPE thats the case, because i bought mine as a 1.0 through parallel importers (sony definately didn't want me to do that.... TAKE THAT YOU F%CKERS!!!)

Haha, I also bought mine as a 1.0 in the first week of Jap release, so I have no worries at all Wink! However, simply comming from a technical stand point, the only thing that is done when downgrading is a wipe and re-write of the EEPROM (or maybe flash), so essentailly you will end up with the exact same product as you would if you upgraded or bought it as that (and on that note, the wipe/re-write is done by the actual sony created firmware installer!!).

That is unless the 1.5 firmware that is installed when you downgrade is in someway flawed?

just so everone is totally clear on this:

1, All UK and Europe giga packs are 2.01 and above.
2, You cannot at this moment in time downgrade from 2.1 and above too version 2.0 or 1.5

Recommend buying the few remaining 1.5 firmware PSPs from Ebay while there still around, as it's been some time that the scene has been waiting for a 2.1 downgrader.
