Yes, that version works fine using the method mentioned in the .nfo.
As myself and a few others on this board plus various gaming sites commented though the game runs like crap even on high end machines and still manages to look dated. Hopefully they'll release some form of patch with optimization in mind.
I have a major problem with the cracked files RELOADED added on the disk. Namely that NOD32 (anti virus prg) finds those 2 exe files as an unknown win32 virus and refuses to allow me any touch of those files (copy for example).
Whwn I turn off nod I can copy the cracked files to the prg folder and I can play with the game, but after that when I turn anti virus back on, soon it finds these files and blocks them. Soevery time I want to play I need to do the same copy cracked files procedure from the beginning disabling NOD 32. It is pretty annoyin eh? Anyone with the same problem?

I too have NOD32 and have exactly the same problem. The solution, fortunately, is not hard.
You just have to click on the NOD32 icon in the taskbar, click on AMON and then on SETTINGS. Here, choose the EXCLUSION menu, click on ADD and select the two VIETCONG files which NOD32 erroneously detects as potential viruses.

I was so pissed off that I just simply forget to dig in NOD32's setting to add these files as exceptions..baaahhh
