I thought that this topic needed it's own thread, if you moderators think it needs to go into another forum thread then please do it, many thanks.

I wil explain my whole situation so you know just what is making my PC respond in a strange manner then you could see from my situation on how to help.

I had trial version of alcohol 120% installed on my PC, and daemon tools 3.47, i also have starforce nightmare, sfcure, sfasb gui, (secure rom 7) sr7 stop, i have installed splinter cell chaos theory snake version, all runs fine. every one of those applications is off, then yesterday i unistalled daemon tools 3.47, and trial version of alcohol 120%. between each uninstalls i rebooted the system all fine till then. Then i installed daemon tools 4 and it asked to reboot and so i did and upon system boot it continued the installation. Then i rebooted the system again. But unfortunately as the system booted back into windows it starts to load daemon tools because it's on automount at start up, now as it's mounting the drives it quicly crashes and reboots and upon when the boot gets back to windows i have tried quickly disabling daemon tools but you only have a few seconds till it crashes again. So it's impossible.

Is there a way i can login into windows without it loading anything? like a windows safe mode. Either that or can something else be done?

Does this mean i have broken my PC, i hope not

Please help me fix this,

any help much appreciated

many many thanks

Press f8 when booting, this will give you a menu, choose start windowsXP in safemode. Then you can remove dt4 or solve the problem.

You can also try this command when you boot normally,
shutdown -a (this should stop winXP from restarting).

Start - Run - "shutdown -a" (without the quotes)

Second solution might be easier cause safemode takes a while boot up.

thanks for the fast reply,

I don't understand the second method, but it does'nt matter. I managed to get into safe mode very quickly. btw i am using windows xp home edition + service pack 2. I got into safe mode and went to start - programs - daemon tools and then clicked on the exe and i get this message:

DAEMON TOOLS

initlization error.
This program requires at least windows 2000 with SPTD 1.21 or higher. Kernel debugger must be deactivated.

Then i try uninstalling daemon tools and get this message:

DAEMON TOOLS Uninstall
Setup is unable to validate installation

What should i do,

any help much appreciated, many thanks

If you have DAEMON Tools program group present in Start Menu then run Uninstall shortcut from there and follow instructions.

If mentioned program group does not exist because setup is not complete (eg. due to crash) or you unchecked this option during setup (eg. for security reasons), then locate the folder where you installed DAEMON Tools and run uninst.exe in this folder manually.

If your setup is not complete and not all files were copied due to some crash (so that even uninst.exe is not present) or uninst.exe fails with some error message then just delete all files from this folder manually, remove System32\Drivers\dtscsi.sys file and reboot your system.

NOTE: DAEMON Tools V4 also uses SPTD (SCSI Pass Through Direct) driver to access cdroms and it is also automatically installed during DT setup. But SPTD is not removed during uninstallation because it may be used not only by DAEMON Tools but by other applications as well and its removal may disrupt these applications.
Nevertheless, if you suppose your problems are SPTD releated you can remove it as specified in this thread

http://www2.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/t6828-my-system-wont-boot-after-installation-of-v4-or-problems-with-sptdsys.html

So delete the folder where you installed daemon tools and also delete dtscsi.sys in windows\System32\Drivers\dtscsi.sys

After you have done this and can start windows normally,
Run some reg tool and or delete the reg entries manually. Cause useless data in your reg sonly slows your pc down.

ah thank you so much, i did all that you said and i am back in windows now. thanks again.

Just one thing, what happened to me is it a flaw in dt4? Should i wait till they fix the problem or should i try installing it again?

I read how a lot of people are using it on here and didn't experience the problems that i had, could it be that this current version has problems with my system specs. I thought if i reinstalled it i could disable auto mount before i reboot my system after installation that way it shouldn't constantly do a crash reboot.

What are your thoughts

many thanks
