I had the same problem with the demo - in that case unpacking the 0compressed.zip manulally did the job.
I can't check it myself (will grab nfsmw a bit later), but i've found this info

Quote:
is a new direct x version 9.oC on the cd of the game

you must unistal the curent direct x just click here:

and instal after the direct x from the cd

If some1 has another solution, please post it, or say if this one helps.

I've tried both ways (changing the autorun.exe to win2k compatability mode and also totally re-installing directx using Rzooq's method) and it still gives me the "you must have directx 9.0c..." which I have, and the dxdiag even reports I have it. Something is messed up.

I have WinXP SP1 by the way, if that makes any difference...

Easiest way (worked for me)

1. Mount cd1
2. Copy the files (not the folders) except 0compress.zip to a folder (c:\games\NFS or something)
3. unzip 0compress.zip into the folder you copied the files to..
4. do the same with the zips on cd2,3 and 4..
5. start the game with speed.exe (with cd1 mounted)
