Welcome to the club Smile
I used to ride an RS125, been riding for a few years myself but only passed my DAS last april, first time too with 4 minors although I didnt agree with them on some Smile

I have an 01 in blue and white similar to this will post a vid of me doing a sorry excuse of an 11'O clock soon Very Happy

http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/121828/

also ride a zxr400 mainly for work though, I only ride the six on weekends and my days off as I fear its removal by suspicious hands Sad I have a Blueflame Evo can on order along with that I have a digi gear indicator in blue and an Data tool rev light and K&N air filter already installed.

Future mod plans= Iridium double bubble screen+ohlins steering damper+70 profile front tyre+R&G crash bungs lowers & Mid.

Also you may want to register here

http://www.r6messagenet.com/forums/index.php if you get any problems, dont think you will but you never know! just remember to treat her well with regular oil changes, I change mine every 3000 miles and have even bought a magnetic oil plug as a replacement for the stock.....believe me for £7 its worth its weight in gold I remember buying it off some chap in the US off ebay cant remember his name at the moment.

Oh and please get yourself a decent set of leathers because you WILL need them, I always ride with a One piece frank thomas, its very sturdy and assuring so if I ever do come off again I know it wont give me any scars or bloody me up as much Wink

btw, heres a link to some pics of my zxr400 when I made a solo rideout to the Cat and fiddle

Keep it rubber side down bro Very Happy

I wish i could get a new bike! GF thinks they are to dangerous on the street, but she says that i could get one for the racetrack though! I just dont know when i would have time to go and do a couple of laps, and the nearest track is like 260km from home so...!

I have had bikes my whole life and the last one i had was the new fireblade that i bought when it was released in 2000. Had to sell that in 2002 when the dotcoms went belly up and i lost alomst all my money:-(

But i still have my first "heavy" bike left, the old yamaha tzr 250 2 stroke:-)
Its in parts though and in my brothers workshop, it has been in parts since 94 i think and i can never seem to get around to puting it together!
But its a fun bike, not as powerfull as the blade or r1 but much faster on narrow roads with a lot of curves:-)

well, driving motorcycle is fun and your bike seems like a good choice if you wanna do some street racing Wink i prefer driving enduro and cross - fed up with driving on streets... i had 2 heavy accidents and on one occasion i broke my left foot/ it had 14 fractures and took me plenty of time to recover....that was really no fun/ Crossing is far more dangerous but you don't have to deal with stupid car drivers. Today i drive a KTM 620 LC4 SC for enduro riding (heavily modified though ~64 hp) / Supermoto set for regular street driving (changing wheels takes about 25 minutes) and regarding moto-cross i have a 250 YZ -56 hp 2 stroke yeahh deadly thing i tell you Wink
My brothers has a Ktm 520 exc and it's a lot of fun to let hell out in our local forests and on cross tracks. Unfortunately i recently don't seem to find the time to drive very often....

Fuckin eh. nice ride man. Ive been riding all my life too, i just put mine inside for the winter last night. Its in my kitchen, lol.

Heres a pic.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v399/sosbigperm/IMG_00521.jpg

Man it makes me so happy when i hear (new?) riders are taking the courses. Smile Even if your not going to race; you should do the race school as well. It helped me to know my limits.

Is it nice where you live, god i wish i lived somewhere i could ride year round, its gonna hit like minus 20 C here next week.

Hopefully next summer im going to pickup a new CRF 450R for off road. That bike is insaine.

Have fun, and like Godlikez says; get some good leathers, and dont cheap out on a helmet. Its your head right. Smile Keep her rubber side down Smile

@Macknu

Street riding is considered more dangerous than track riding. On the track there are way more protective barriers and such than on the street. And on the track you dont have to worrie about old granny or the crazy soccer mom takin ya out. Many pro riders are forbiden by there sposorship contracts to ride on the street; to dangerous.

Dangerous is everything on the road, even driving a car. If you check statistiks from insurance companies most accidents are solo or caused by the drivers carelessness and its mostly young people, what i meant when i said it aint to dangerously is if you drie legaly and to that limit your capable of then its really not that dangerous.

Pah! locking away your baby just because its cold outside...you...you...Sunday Rider! Razz

I will probably use the R6 less but I will still nontheless commute on the zxr400, even in the ice and snow Smile hehe last year was really bad when I used my rs125......I had my fair share of "brown pants" moments with the back end constantly weezing out on invisble ice and chip marks on the fairing because of those pesky salt throwing lorrys, with that said its fun spinning the rear wheel on ice Very Happy

Your so lucky SOSbigperm it takes next to nothing to be able to ride a bigger bike over there in the US/Canada over here we have to take our CBT then take our theory test then apply for a Direct Access course and if your lucky you pass otherwise you just wasted £300-£900 on a test you just failed! the system and examiners are VERY strict and you wont pass unless you have real experience/confidence Smile

Oh yes its all very good buying a blade or a busa with 1300cc's kicking the tarmac but over here try gettin insured on either with 0/1 years no claims bonus, be sure your rich! or it wont happen.

I have 3 years no claims and im still paying £290 fully comp for my zxr400, and £435 for my R6. If i were you userfriendly I would ring around for insurance, save yourself a whole load of dosh in the long run.

Your definantly right about the CRF SOSbigperm....its a monster though I've been on the prowl for a DT125 for a couple of months now, that special bargain still hasnt turned up.

Track riding is something I will do but quite simply dont have that kind of money floating around at the moment, its usally around £150 for a 7 or so hour session and that is alot of money. I have thought about riding to france/germany as I know they have very cheap trackdays in some places as cheap as €15!! obviously I'd imagine corners would have to be cut such as a minute number of marshalls and there would be more than your fair share of riders on the track.

I have been to Donnington/Brands/Cadwell and watched friends compete but as of yet still havent tried it myself.

Didn't realise there's a lot more people here into bikes than I thought! Smile

Insurance people never like me so it was a worry getting insurance for my R6, managed to get it for just under £800 fully comp which is'nt too bad seeing that I passed my test at the start of this month (november) and I still consider myself as a novice.

I've always driven cars etc... so this was a nice change.

I have a bit of an advantage where I live, all the roads are newly surfaced and are back country roads. Im not really interested in gaining a top speed on a bike (had my boy racer years) but I enjoy taking it a my own pace and crave for good corners.

Eventually I will get a Triumph Daytona 675 (probably in a years time) for the time being I need to practice hard. I know a few people that race classic bikes that also instruct so I shall go riding with them to pick up hints as im sure there is a lot more to learn.

The direct access course in the UK is expensive cost me £800 to do a 5-day course with the CBT and final test. Had to re-take the test due to putting my foot down on the U-Turn (doh!) so that added another £155 to the price.

I've never been interested in starting out on a 125 for a year or two and it annoys me the amount of scooters kids have on "L" plates just gives the people that have a passion for biking a bad name...

What also annoys me is the fact that people keep on reminding me the dangers that are involved. I have lost friends through bike accidents and Im well aware of the dangers. I have the theory to respect the bike and the bike will respect me. Any motor vehicle is as safe as you drive it.

Sunday rider..phhh Smile i just wanna keep her outa the cold. When we get a chinook ill do some gravel riding. I try to ride everyday i can, free parking at the office if i ride. And its time to tear her apart, pm and detail. Gonna put a undertail kit on, led lights and hopefully i can aford to put on some new pipes.

Man that sucks about your insurance and tests. Ill admit that i found our test a little to easy. The guys at the beginning of the week that were dropping there bikes passed at the end of the week. Yikes. I passed with zero demerits. First street bike i owned was a 89 GSXR 750, a legend in its time. But nothing compared to my 1000RR, best handling bike i have ever rode.

Can't believe the power this baby churns out, it's beyond to what I was expecting. It has to be one of the most enoyable rides on any vehicle i've had. Defintly my play thing.

Put it to sleep for the night and will play more in the morning... Just gotta keep an eye on the speed and the surroundings etc... Very Happy

Damn, was everyone ok? I've seen some nasty stuff on the road before; unfortuantly you've just gotta think everyone on the road is out to get ya.

Still cant live life in fear; hence why I still ride a bike... can certainly be more of a death trap than anything else on the road.
