Anyone experiences weird sounds coming from their power supply before? Like first I started hearing like a sort of humming that faded in and out quickly. I went to pull my case and i jarred it a little, and it stopped, then a few minutes later, i heard some sort of clicking almost then the humming came again. The computer is running perfect though, no performence drops or anything,

It stopped for a little while then started again, and it almost sound like it was winding down. Like it sounds like the fan could be a little loose and is moving inwards and out. As I was typing that last sentence it DEFINATELY sounded like something was caught in some fan, but I can't see anything. It's stopped after spazzing out.

Ok, so what i did was open the computer up (christ its dirty in there  ) and I notice the power supply is resting on one of the beams inside the case now, which it wasn't before. I was going to take the PSU off and inspect it anyway, so I do that, and clean it out, and whatnot, and then put it back on, tighten it and its no longer resting on this beam. There has been no noise since. Also, I fixed my fucking HDD light, seeing as I never hooked it up when I bought the case and motherboard and such back over a year and a bit ago.

Maybe your Fan had dirt in it??

it's psu fan problem had same shit with my arctic cooler for 9800pro even after i cleaned it humming still had place on start up with high speed not on low speed,just try to put some oil inside fan that might help

It's a no name 420Watt.. It came with my case. I know its stinky.
I am ready to clean it out, I think the idea of the fan being caught on something. I'm ready to revamp my room here, and when I do that, I'll give the machine an entire cleanout. |
