So I wanna get a laptop:

My budget is at 1120 USD.

Should at least have a 2,0 Ghz CPU

Should have a decent GFX (Radeon or Geforce)

512 mb ram

At least 20 gb in space.

Also Integrated wireless lan, DVD-Rom maybe even a DVD burner.

So could it be a reality or?

Don't think you're that far off ...

you want a desktop replacement right? And by that I mean non a centrino ...

this is canadian, but is around the right price ...

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10063398&catid=22495&logon=&langid=EN

I have a laptop with an ATI 9000 integrated ... it does alright in the performance dept ... no doom3 type performance ... but then again that costs $$$$$$$$$$ (just check out alienware for that proof) ... I think at the least you're going to have to sacrifice graphics for the rest of the stuff you want. I haven't really seen a gaming laptop under 2000 USD.

Crying or Very sad ahh heck, well been thinking of getting one with the 9000, and it brings in a "ok" fps in 3D Applications?

And dude alienware is a dream I'll never reach Razz (Not in the age of 18 that is)

btw: thats one fine looking laptop! Gonna look it up at a danish retailer and hopefully the price wont be much of a difference.

My 9000 IGP does decently. Nothing close to spectacular. I don't really play that many FPS on the thing, but I do play like NHL 05/06, NBA, trackmania, GTA, need for speeds... I do remember Far Cry was a little laggy even on lower settings....

... but like I said ... sub 2000 laptops aren't for 100% gaming. I love watching movies on my laptop. Good portable media centre Very Happy

I should mention, since you're probably getting this for college/uni ... the widescreen is really great for writing papers etc . in that 2 documents fit well on the screen at once (ie like you're writing an essay in a word document and have the pdf of some source in the other). Plus the widescreen is good for movies, of course. Some games support widescreen ... most don't ... many can be hacked to support them.

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/ is a good place to start for that.

laptops have come down a lot recently, especially on the mid-range stuff and lower end. It depends too what you want it for. I only use mine like 10% of the time for games ... mostly for internet, movies, tv shows, music/cds etc. mines a little larger (big ass screen), and a P4 (not a centrino) since it's more of a desktop replacement.

this is almost the same as mine (except mine shares 128 of vid memory and only has cd-rw)

Just don't get a celleron ... or even an AMD sempron. Its kind of better to spend ~1299 like that first one and get something you like ... it's not that much more.

Ok dude now I finally made a decision Very Happy

The zv6000 series from HP.

http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2341

* AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0 GHz processor
* 768MB of PC2700 RAM
* 128MB ATI Xpress 200m video (dedicated memory)
* 8x Dual Layer DVD+/-RW drive
* 15.4" wide screen (no BrightView)
* 40 GB 4,200 RPM Hard Drive
* Windows XP Professional
* 12 cell battery
* No built-in wireless selected (USB based wireless card solution used)

Though unlike the reviewer on notebookreview I have a 60 gb HDD
and included Wifi, but only 512 mb PC2700 Ram and of course brightview.

I'd say yo go for atleast 5400 RPM HDD if not 7200, they are more expensive but the difference is very noticeable.. Also, more RAM never hurts Wink
Maybe you could get it without OS installed and save some money there, you know what I mean Smile

hmm...
half a pc, half a notebook.

Slow VC and poor akku time... :/

just my 2 cents

I would say you won`t get a decent Notebook in that price range.

Better go for a small notebook to work with - you get nice ones from IBM for less money, that can run for 3~5 hours without reloading.

The saved money you could invest into a better VC / more Ram / new board/cpu for your desktop PC...

I already have plenty on my main computer Wink Though what I really want to play last generation game and modern games on low/medium settings and also as you say with at least 3-5 hours of battery time and a "ok" cpu.

Gaming won't allow for basically any battery life. 2 tops on most battery saver machines.

you could extend that a bit if you're willing to drop an extra $300 on one of these:

I picked up a nice HP notebook, 2.8 pentium 4, 1 gig of ram , dvdr burner,widescreen blah blah, cost me 1,300. I paid extra for the 3 year warranty, but if something goes wrong with it i just take it to best buy and they fix it and im on my way home.
