SSX on Tour (Xbox)
Release Date: 10/24/2005

SSX On Tour allows players to create their own boarder or skier and take them from a wannabe to a mountain rockstar.

Players can get noticed in all-new shred challenges where they earn an invitation to The Tour where they'll face the best racers in the SSX cast. Fly down the all-new tracks, and master the new monster tricks for both boarding and skiing to make it to the top of The Charts.

Fans of the SSX franchise are sure to land themselves another hit based on the game we’ve seen in progress. SSX on Tour is a great addition to the series and we think it has enough style and flair to attract more than a few newcomers to the slopes with its enhanced gameplay and innovative presentation. In the upcoming months prior to the game’s expected release, we hope to get our hands on the Xbox version to bring you continued coverage of SSX on Tour. Until then, check out the latest screenshots of SSX on Tour along with our exclusive video interview with the game’s producer Steve Anthony.

Sorry but this isn't my kinda of game genre Very Happy

Though I love snowboarding in reality, but I've played some of the sxx/amped and I thought them to be VERY boring, oh well

SSX_On_Tour_USA_XBOX-GANT got released 4m 15s ago [ XBOX / GANT ]

Hey slowforce is catching up...

i got the original as my first PS2 game.. it was fun for multiplayer but not much else. Hopefully the new version where you can create your own boarder will be much better

honestly theyve ruined it been playing it for last 20 mins and theyve totally killed it, maybe after a lil bit more play it might open up but i'm not liking the shitty select a challenge from a map approach so far just feels soo restricting totally the opposite of SSX 3. Theyve kidded it up tried to make it look cool and thorwn out all the best stuff which made it good...the controls are the same tho..at least thats something..not happy at all

i will contend it does get better once it opens up. But for me what made SSX3 so damn good was the sense of freedom, and thats what this lacks for me. Yea the gameplay is there but its just NOT the same game if u get me. I still think EAbig missed out big time on the potential for this game by trying to make it look cool.

I must be the only one on this thread who actually likes what they did with the menus and the art direction that they took, as Gamespot said very remeniscent of Schoolhouse Rock. Very Happy

The actual racing seemed ok compared to the previous 3 games, im only 3-4 hours into the game so I expect the tracks to get better at the moment the racing seems a little slow presumably because im early into my career and my stats and board are lousy.

Tryed a race in quick play playing as a skier and it seemed pretty good as well, my only niggle with the game is that I don't find the challenges all that enjoyable i.e grinding for 350 metres or getting 45 seconds airtime just isn't all that exciting in my opinion once you've done it over and over again.

SSX 3 is still the best game of the series. Smile

I love snowboarding in real life and i spend about two months a year in the alps. I also love the THPS-games but for some reason i've never gotten into the SSX-games. What game should i get hold of? The old SSX3 or On Tour?

I'd go for SSX 3 as a proper introduction to the series, SSX Tricky was good as well but version 3 seemed to be the most solid of the lot.

On Tour does get better as you play through it and there are alot of nice features but some of the challenges especially the "Don't touch the Snow" one are freaking stupid. The cpu opponents in SSX 3 seemed to have more character as well, I miss the rivalries which carried over across the course of your game not just in the current race. In On Tour with the exception of when you get challenged by someone like Psymon or Elise for example who were regular racers in the previous games it feels like your racing against half a dozen nameless/faceless boarders which spoils it a little.

My advice get SSX 3 and if you become hooked you'll probably end up getting On Tour sooner or later to see what they did with it. Smile

edit......i've played upto the point where im classed as a semi-pro now and things really are starting to pick up, the increase in stats due to having a good board really does make the game alot faster and more enjoyable as a result. Some of the later tracks are hectic in a good way, all sorts going on when you ride down them and no end of alternate routes to go down the mountain.

Based on the above I'd perhaps amend my opinions to say its a toss up really, both have their strong points. I seem to remember SSX3 having a better, more complex attributes system for your character and if I remember correctly there was also a little book of achievements that crossed off moves as and when you performed them then gave you rewards based on these completed achievements. Those 2 features should have been included in "On Tour" in my opinion, they should have done away with some of the more arsey challenges and made more of the characters/rivalries - Other than those negative points its a very good game. Smile

hated it at first but it grew on me, but ea really need to realise that i haven't got 4 hands. To get a decent trick score u have to charge a direction on d pad, charge a jump then press one (or both triggers) and right analogue whilst still holding d pad in a direction then when u land hold right analogue down and charge a at the same time. That needs at least 3 hands.

ahh well at least they left a half pipe event in it, only found 2 so far and i'm on semi pro...

maybe check out "amped 2" too,
it's less arcady & more simulation than the ssx series Smile

I really like the game, and i love the new style! I admit that it takeas awhile to get into at first, but after that, it´s all good. Only problem so far is that it gets a bit repetetive after you reach semi-pro...

great game. i agree with the review above. some parts of ssx3 are better and some parts of on tour are better, so i still might find myself playing the old one(which i actually bought amazingly enough. i love the fact that they FINALLY give you better boards to up your speed and other stats. but at the same time alot of the character customization went out the window. also EA BIG needs to do what EA normal does and add in custom soundtrack selection dammit. besides that only other gripe is not enough super-pipe type action. otherwise good fun fastpaced game, very recommended.
