This article and also this article here, reflect the same rumour... that Sony might lose development support for their PS3.
Well, only time will tell if this rumour is true... let's hope it ain't.

I thought sony was crazy for waiting so long to release the ps3 but now they are really crazy to expect that kind of investment to get started. Seems the 360 gets another nod of approval.

Ya its just rumors floating around...I wouldn't worry.
Althought I heard on Tech TV that its going to cost twice as much to develop a game...something like 9 million a game, so it would make sence smaller companies will not be able to afford it and mabey navigate to Nintendo...who knows...This might be good for the Revolution.

If it is costing more to develop these next-gen games for the consoles, I think we'll see less exclusive content in favor of supplying both major players (xbox360 and PS3). I'd include Nintendo but the Revolution apparently doesn't stack up well against the other two in terms of power and the controls are vastly different.

thats what you wanna say when you see the king of consoles getting bashed... so i guess thats what its about... and i have to say i think the same... that will make them have to try even harder and we might see very good things from both ms and sony in the future due to the hard competition... i cant wait... |
I can't too...I'm playing the original Perfect Dark for the N64, acually I got it loaded with Surreal on my xbox. Cause the new Perfect dark Zero is a prequil and I want to get the jist of it.

i never will understand the console industry pricing. Its a huge industry, it does huge sales the markup is crazy. If they halved that price at launch and sold games for $40 + tax ud see helluve lot of ppl grabbing one and helluve lot of games flyinng off the shelves. At 80 bux a pop i'll be visiting my local blockbuster til someone hacks it. And save my money for the games i think r worth $80

I agree with ya "I" personaly would buy alot more games if they were $20 like movies. but in the game industry there is much more of a risk for game developers, interms of games not doing as well as they should, like Beyond Good And Evil. The game was a great game but didn't sell, so game developers are scared to lower games prices, afraid of losing everything.
That being said ESPN football did the $20 dollar root it would be interesting on how that played interms of profit.

Ha, nintendo will never be #1 again. They dropped the ball on the n64's carts instead of cd.
I have a bad feeling the ps3 will be $$$ and so will the games for it. Right now, the xbox 360 gets my nod.

PS3 will be brilliant, like the PS2 was and the XBOX 360 will be good like the XBox was, however XBox will beat the PS3 in any form of online play, which is what most games are becoming now. The fact remains that the XBox is not liked by the Far Eastern consumers and struggles to sell like Nintendo struggles to sell in Europe. I was watching a gamer tv show today and 76% of all Japanese gamers they surveyed said they want PS3 more than XBOX 360 which is a massive percentage.

The xbox is well known to cause such a problem though, but I have never seen it on the ps2.
It might exist on the ps2 too, but the real deal when it comes to that error is the xbox my dear friend.
Just read these forums. |
I have never heard of a dirty disc error for the xbox only on the PS2

StarShine wrote: | are the Xbox dirty disc errors on this forum not related to the fact that people are using copies though?
half of the time when they get the dirty disc error its related to people using certain types of media with the older xboxes that don't have a thomson dvd drive, the other half when they get a dirty disc error message its related to playing games with the wrong region setting set in evox and incompatibilities with certain mod chips.
I've never had any problems with either of my 2 xboxes being unable to read originals same goes for my ps2 haven't heard many people complaining about them either. The original playstation was a different matter though I remember many people that bought the very first batches of the machines including myself on release day later being stuck with playstations that had faulty laser lenses. |
Thats what I wanted to say

are you kidding me? you havent had a problem with the ps2 laser??? i didnt mean the dirty disc error lol thinking of the xbox. i havent had a problem with my xbox dvd drive at all and i think its partially because microsoft isnt exactly a hardware company so they dont have to design a drive they just have to pay someone else to make it. personally its all too expensive for me right now anyway i mean what college student has 500 something dollars for everything? id rather spend it on textbooks haha

after working for a games shop i'd say the ps2 has much more chance of going faulty. the more use they get the shorter the laser life. sony did try fix it with the silver ps2 and slimline but they still regularly packed in. goes to show sony learnt nothing from the original ps1 (remember the melty plastic laser housing lol)
my ps2 still works tho, was bought 2nd hand something like 4 years ago and still managed to give me a good few months of gta sa.
xbox dirty disc error depends on the drive in it, thomson r ok, samsung better but some had philips drives and they r fking awful

i own the original model PS2 which i got on release date and play often, and i've never had a disc read error while my friends 3 week old xbox had it often when we played. Only using retail games on both.
