Ok. I would appreciate help with the following

I have the following .avi:
prison.break.s01e07.hr.hdtv.ac3.5.1.xvid-ctu.avi

that has ac3 sound and I want to convert it to the same but with mpeg layer-3 lame stereo sound in order to be able to watch it on my standalone dvd player. I have tried various combinations of actions with Virtual dub, nandub and headac3he-0.23a but either I end up with an .avi that has no dialog, only the backround music or the file is still has ac3 audio. Unfortunately neither of my 2 divx standalone players can play the file. I could watch it on my pc of course but I like to archive the files and keep the whole season intact to burn it later on a dvd.

thanx

Go to virtual dub, open your file. Go to Audio - Audio1 - Demux. Demux the .ac3 sound.
Download BeSweet, open the ac3 audio in it, choose the output type. Press Convert Very Happy
Go to virtual dub, open your file. Go to Audio - Audio1 - Click on MP3 (if you converted it to MP3) choose the outputed mp3, open it.
Go to Video - Direct Steam Copy.
Go to file - Save as... Name it Very Happy and click ok.

Enjoy. Hope that helps.

About Hitman: Movie (2007)
Vin Diesel is a hardcore gamer, and absolutely loves the Hitman series. For that reason I have faith that he wont destroy the movie.

Response: Well, Uwe Boll probably loved the Alone in the Dark games.

thanks for the reply Grif Wink

I have be sweet, but what version of Virtual Dub are you using??
I have nearly all version and the only encoder tool that I have that gives and option for 2 manipulation both audio streams in the avi is Nandub 1.0rc2

I can't seem to find the option u are reffering to in Virtaul dub in order to demux the .ac3 file.
I have demuxed files before to .wav files and added them later to .avi's but with an ac3 .avi its different cause I dont get the dialogs..

Also if u can tell me how which codec/plugin u use to decode the ac3 files. where do u get it and how u install it.

edit: I found the version of Virtual dub that has the stream option, it's VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_2_All_inclusive, I demuxed the ac3 from the avi and it game me an xxx.ac3 file. The problem when i try to reencode the .ac3 file with either headac3he-0.23a or BeSweet is that is says that the .ac3 file is missing the header :S

thanx again

your standalone player should be able to handle .ac3 streams... dvd's (MPEG2) use ac3.

anyways...
1. open your file in virtualdub
2. go to file/save WAV (even tho it says wav it means any stream(s) muxed with the video.)
3. no go to besweet and convert to mp3 (i would use vbr 112/128)
4. go to nandub open up your video and go to audio tab. selec the mp3 vbr or cbr stream which you just coded.
5. mux them back

and REEECHOOOLLAAAAH!

thanx for your reply 2 m8

i have 2 standalones (1 yamada 6600 and 1 philips 575a) and they play nearly everything I throw at them but for some funny reason the dont wanna play that particular file. To be absolutely honest now that I think of it I dont know for sure if they have a problem with the video codec or if it really is the ac3 that is creating the problem. I will reencode to divx keeping the ac3 sound now to check. I always get the LOL releases for either prison break or lost but since the first 2 releases were nuked I decided to grab this.
