"a new recording-industry poll suggests."
"a study by Pollara for the recording industry estimates."
Quote: | Canadians between the ages of 18 and 29 are much more willing than other age groups to make illegal copies of software programs, cheat on exams or even shoplift, an Environics poll suggests. |
Downloading music makes you want shoplift, offcourse
Quote: | Nearly 27 per cent of younger people surveyed said they would consider cheating on a test or exam, compared with 10 per cent of the general population. |
What does this have to do with it.
And it is stupid info. offcourse younger people will cheat more cause they actually have exams. older people cant cheat cause they dont ahev examns
"the Canadian Recording Industry Association, which commissioned the polls.": so they have the last hand in the result
and guess how they did it: " Pollara's findings are based on a national telephone survey of more than 1,200 Canadians aged 12". 1200 CAnadians, now they can generalize offcourse. question, how come they have older people in their survey if they say they questioned 1200 12 year olds.
In the polls they only polled 12 year olds and 18 year olds, how did they ever find a number for the general population, it doesnt make sence just as they themselves dont make sence

yeah ... fucking worthless poll commissioned by assholes, carried out by inept dumbfucks.
Congratulations. They found out that young people are more likely to commit crimes then old people. NO FUCKING SHIT SHERLOCK.

This is fucking stupid. They have the worst logic for any kind of association. They're trying to prove (idiotically) that downloaders of music commit other "crimes". But they don't report any stats on the roportion of young downloaders vs young non downloaders that would cheat or rape their mom or whatever it is. You know why? Because they found nothing. People who download music aren't any more likely to cheat/shoplift,etc. I'd actually guess that dumbfucks who can't figure out how to download songs would be the ones stupid enough that they needed to cheat on easy-ass high school exams.
This is 100% bullshit.

hahahahahahaha.
Maybe because they only interviewed stupid people.
i would take another conclusion:
"people who are stupid enough to admit to a stranger they download illegal stuff are more willing to admit they want to cheat on a test"

Just more propaganda. Has anyone seen the MPAA's "Downloading Is Stealing" vid. I just saw on one of the last releases (forget which one). Basically showing people stealing physical property from stores then fading into a kid downloading off the net, with the message "Downloading Is Stealing".
The part they fail to mention, "IT IS NOT STEALING, IT"S COPYRIGHT INGRINGEMENT!"

i live in belgium and im studying at university, and there are quite often flyers and anti piracy advertisements postcards being given to me. Big posters with slogans as "downloading is stealing".
Also in front of every movie "Don't download, it is stealing. If you know someone, call blablbla"
"if you see someone with a handcam, plz contact the cinema personel"
looks like russian situations. Lets snatch and get some fame ...

Moree industry bullshit.
Downloading may be illegal but so is price fixing isnt it, and dont dvd region codes enable this, remember the fuss about multiregion dvd players when they first came out.
Id give the media companies a bit more respect if they werent so corrupt in the first place.
time for them to do something about and lower prices i think

These types of surveys are total BS and only good for convincing politicians to take large campaign contributions to help stem the "epidemic" caused by downloading. Its corrupting the young people! They're stealing, cheating, and even stupid enough to admit having committed crimes to a stranger over the phone! Sounds like bad parenting to me, letting your 12 year old child talk to a stranger over the phone and admit to committing crimes.
Anyway, just remember who are paying for these studies. Is it any coincidence that all of these studies show such negative results? I wonder how many other studies are kept unpublished because they didn't get the proper result. They're not after the truth, just their warped version of it.
Let this be a lesson to you Canadians though...your battle with the RIAA/MPAA isn't over by a longshot, and they won't give up until all of your digital rights are down the drain.

MP3 and the like downloading is legal in all of canada, supreme court ruled on it last year or early this year. The judge went along the lines of tapes. back in the 90's, what did ppl do? one person buy's the new pearl jam tape, gives it to 10 of his buddies so they can dub em etc etc...samething with online music
It is however, illegal to profit. So i cant say grab a new cd and make a million copies and sell em. Im not to sure of mass trading, I think that is illegal too.
I havent been able to find an online resource describing our laws on this.
Maybe some of u resourceful folks can help me out

No cause Canada are completely retarded on Internet laws. One of my friend had some legal problems base on something on the internet and we called all the fuckin lawers in the yellow pages, from A to Z...and thats a lot and ONLY 1 was specialized in Internet Laws.
Thats the reason why internet cases dont last lon in Canada, in 80% of the times, Canadian cops went investigating into USA territory and everything droped cause they were out of Jurisdiction and didnt asked to the proper authorities (FBI) help and permission to investigate there. I know in some cases, they used the anti-terrorist law to investigate cause the can do whatever they want under it...and theres goes all of our rights getting flushed in the toilet.

Ok, I'm going to be a bitch, Canada "is" completely retarded "when it comes to" Internet laws.
Anyway, we're not retarded, we're actualy way ahead of the united states when it comes to Internet laws. We prepared for mass music downloading and the Canadian version of the RIAA is getting money from blank CD's right now so Canadian artists can make money.

Dude, Im talking about a Supreme Court Ruling - it had nothing to do with any criminal cases or if it did, it was a very stupid one, like the RIAA trying to sue a 12 year old or something like that - nothing serious and no arrests and such...so I have no clue what ur talking about.
