I have a 160GB HDD and recently i reinstalled windows on it after formating it.
When I finished I noticed that windows showed the hhd with 132GB capacity.

I used partition magic to see if there were any unpartitioned space but nothing found.

I also used a program called HdRegeneration and I scanned all sectors without finding any bad/ defective ones.

Do anyone have a clue to what happened the rest of my HDD space (around 20gb).

its a know problem that windows can't handle bigger hd then 132gb.

try:
http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/downloads/big_drive_enabler.htm

or for more info + another possible fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303013

or try looking here:
Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management

its possible that here is an unlocated partition there.

FYI ...

When you create a partition, windows "steals" ALOT of gigz on bigger drives(NTFS) for the index service... in ex my 120 gig IBM-HD shows only 115 gig in "my computer", and my 120 gig MAXTOR only has 114 gig... http://www.disciple.dk/mycom.jpg

dough 28 gig for the partition seems quite alot. hmmm

Thats not windows you muppet, thats just the difference between BITS and BYTES, and the way computers read the information in binary form rather than decimal (which is used by creators to calculate the size).. ALL hard drives which state to be a size are lower in reality.

To have more than the 132 / 137gb's, download this file and run it.
Then partition the rest of the HDD..

I hate you.
