  • Publisher: 1C Company
  • Developer: Step Creative Group
  • Media type and size: 2 CD
  • Genre: Adventure
  • Release date: 12/31/05 (Russia)
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:

The Universe was plunged into darkness. Toadlike creatures, invaders from the depths of space, armed with powerful weapons and supertechnologies, managed to subdue Mankind. However, several centuries of occupation and unquestionable reign of the Artangs hadn't broken the humans' spirit. The Earth was secretly preparing for War. Weapons were smuggled onto unprotected planets by space trade lines. Secret agents of the Earth, disguised as common merchants, carried out important missions of the Resistance. Opposed by omnipresent Artang patrols, those caught violating the law invariably met death. Our hero however managed to survive in this unequal fight. Having lost his ship, communications, and the secret cargo, he found himself on unknown planet…

In this game you play the role of Earth's secret agent, helping human coalition in the struggle with alien invaders. As fate would have it, you have found yourself on an unknown planet, not registered in any space catalogue, a long way away from any space trade lines. Your main goal is to leave the planet and continue the struggle for Mankind's freedom. However, the way home is long and hard. Your travels as the protagonist becomes a sequence of surprising finds and discoveries, which unexpectedly reveal to him the most treasured mysteries of the Universe. This new-found knowledge may yet play a key role in the struggle against the Artangs.

Star Heritage is a rebirth of one of the best games made by Step Creative Group. The release of this game on the ZX Spectrum platform in 1995 was a great hit with Spectrum gamers. That version of the game was a text adventure. Since then technology has given us many new possibilities, and we have received a lot of requests to make a new version of the legendary Star Heritage for the PC.

In this reincarnation of the game you'll see astounding modern graphics (1024x768), easy-to-use interface and many new puzzles. Even if you played Star Heritage in 1995, you'll discover the Mysterious planet anew.

BAD!

I mean "astounding modern graphics (1024x768)" OMFG, 1024x768! Astounding!

Any developer that describes their game like that must be amateur, plus they're russian. The graphics also look mostly prerendered.

As I said, that's only my impression, it could be wrong.

Actually russians developed many good games. Most of them were only released in Russia.
Space Rangers 1/2, Pathologic, Hammer & Sickle, IL-2 Sturmovik, Evil Islands etc. are very good games. Of course if you think Doom 3 is da best game ever then yes, russians cant make good games

This game's not an RPG it's a Myst/Lost Eden/Atlantis-style quest with static pre-rendered locations and real-time 3D characters on-screen.

This game doesn't proclaim itself an AAA title, it has a $50k budget and it's made mostly for those who are familiar with the original 90s Spectrum version of this game.

So calling it shit and ass is dumb, cos u go and try to do something as good as that (got really nice reviews here) for $50k, mmkay :))

I don't care what their budget was, if a game is shit, it's shit.

I'm paying for a product, I can critique it without being expected to do better myself. Thats what a consumer society is all about. Don't give me that crap argument, it stops working after you finish highschool and realise it holds no logic.
