First of all I'd like to say hello to everyone. Now for my dilema.

Well I've decided to upgrade my graphics card to a 256MB XFX *Extreme Edition* 7800GTX and my mind is set on that card. Now here's the problem, I've only had my P4 3.2ghz h/t 800fsb skt 478 for just over a year now and I'm not looking to upgrade that til the AMD X2's come down in price, so probablly around Christmas time.

As you may already know 99.9% of skt 478 motherboards aren't pci-e compatible so I will have to fork out for a new motherboard that will support both my cpu and new gpu. I've had a look around and I've only found 1!!! This leads me to believe I could be making a risk by purchasing it but ASUS is a respectable company.

I don't claim to be an expert on this whole upgrade/compatability lark, so any help will be much appriciated, tia.

Matt

First of all.... http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13 2ndly that link doesnt work.

I personally I would got a nforce4 for £100 (give or take a few) from loadsa different places. You can get an X2 4400+ for £350 from http://www.xtsit.com/browse/product_details.php?id=10547

They wont be coming down in price anytime soon though except for the 3800.

Cheers pal....

Well I might save up a couple of weeks more and buy the whole lot, I may aswell just get the whole lot now instead of buying a new motherboard for only 4 months use.
