man screw all these cracked updates, i dont understand why ppl bother using em. just get steam-down and use your normal steam account on it, with it you can access the official steam update servers just like that.
i m playing cs source with steam-down all the time, never had to dload any cracked updates shit.
anyways, problem is that i tried that vng release with update 7. okay, i can play it to first loading point. then game wents out and Steam error comes:
Could not acquire necessary game files because the connection to Steam servers was lost.
i tried it with Steam on (i have account and steam works fine), then i tried with Steam off - tried to unplug cable etc. still same shit.
wtf is wrong?

hmm, i just started to play it. (never played it before) leeched vng release and that steam error comes in first loading corner. first of all i need to play it little bit if i buy it.
anyways D_A_Kuja: did you change .ini files as well? like SteamOnline=1 etc?
no you dont need to change any files see the only thing you do is download
steam-down (search on google), then run steam-down and let it download cs source with all the updates automatically, dont use any cracked cs source version that you already have.

vengeance release auto installs Steam. i reinstalled game (without updates) and Steam monitor says "Steam is not currently updating any games" and 0kb/s statistics.
