Can't seem to get this release working properly. The nfo mentions it's touchy with some video card drivers and recommends rolling back to nvidia 3.68 (obviously this is an old game) I'm using a modern ATi card at the momemt.

Anyways, there is a nifty installer.exe that comes up with the Myth logo and music. I select install and it unpacks several files to the folder. The nfo says to use the installer and then run a SETUP.BAT which is included, then Setupreg.exe and finally 3Dsetup.exe.

Now when I run setup.bat a command window pops up and closes 1 second later. Setupreg.exe asks me if I want to add info the reg which I reply yes and then 3dsetup.exe pops up and selects my video card and then I click close. I then run the NFS5 exe file from the install directory and the video mode changes and the screen goes black but before a splash screen or anything I get a "Porsche.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" error.

The package came with a program called DOS4, which I guess is some kind of dos emulator but the companies website says not recommended for use on WIN XP and offers to sell me another program for 60 dollars. Sad
I tried it anyway but I couldn't even navigate to the dir the .bat file was located, it keeps saying unrecognized command. With the standard cd dir cd.. cd. commands.

So do I need to track down a working DOS window to get this setup.bat file to run, or did it run on it's own just so quickly, and that's why the command window is only open for 1 seconds, or is this game just not compatible with my video card driver and I should give up ?

The release was way back in March of 2000. Thanks for any ideas. Very Happy

i can't get the older nfs games to work with my x800 either.
guess these cards are simply not supported. i don't think it's a problem with the rip you're using.
i tried the original nfs:hs, nfs:hp, and nfs:p....none of them works on my system...only when i choose "software rendering"

Since the batch file didnt run, i would say the game is not properly unpacked. Look at contents setup.bat, see what it does and try the proper steps manually using command prompt. I dont know what else to tell you, other than that if its still not working i will install this release later today or tommorow and let you know whats up.
