and yes Thats normal.. a Divx / Xvid film will jump to about 1.2GB as Divx films are compressed... (Thats why SVCD's are realeased on 2 or 3 or 4 Discs...

try d.i.k.o. its a free encoder that encodes from divx to svcd/ dvd takes and while longer than main concept or cce but you can get good quality results ready to burn on to disc as mpg2 or bin files if thats to hard to set up then there is filmmachine which does the same thing only it dont have the same options as diko like making multi episode dvds or using avi's with differnt codecs for an svcd
