Are there any good command line shell replacements for windows?
The existing Cmd.exe just doesn't cut it. What I want is something more like the linux shell.

Is there anything like that around?

And, don't say switch to linux Smile
I already have linux on one of my computers but I still need windows for games and work applications.

I am pretty sure there is no cmd.exe replacement around as that is a needed windows file. Upon replacement the original file will be put back so... Well...

If you want another GUI though you can use something called Litestep.
It works instead of explorer.exe, uses much less resources but takes some time before it is like you want it.

On the other hand you can always use Linux... Razz

I wasn't thinking of actually replacing the exe file, but rather get another program that does the same job.

What shell are you using with Linux Avenger_? I still prefer the c shell (yeah i'm somewhat oldschool). Anyways you can get a c shell for windows here:

http://www.hamiltonlabs.com/cshell.htm (it's not free however)

oh and if you want to have a kind of linux running with windows then you should check out cygwin:
