Now that my GF4 TI 4800 has served it's years now i was thinking about a replacement.
I'm going to buy a new gfx card but i'm not really into these things with hardware, I know which cards to avoid and which should be good but i just don't know whats better than the other.
I have been using Nvidia cards since the day's of Voodoo cards but i think my Chieftec cabinet/power don't like GF FX cards or something, cant remember exactly what the guy in the store said but my power is 360w.
I was thinking something like ATI this time but Nvidia doesnt matter as long as it works with my cabinet.

So what i'm after is some sort of tips for a good gfx card but not too expensive. I don't need a tomorrows gfx card but a decent card that will do for a while but preferably not over 200$ as i don't have a huge budget for one.

Appreciate the help i can get from you guys, i bet you know better than me Smile

How much is it? I found the same one for $122.
If you want 256MB version the best I found is $163.

If you want XT128, then $205.

Don't you need an AGP card, not PCI-E?

Hehe Very Happy
Well thanks guys, you have helped me to narrow my next purchase.
I don't really want to use a lot of money on a new video card but i dont want to be too cheap on one either so 250-300 is my MAX.
Just need to find a good hardware site for scandinavia/europe Smile

Im an ATI fan but currently the best bang for your buck is the Geforce 6600GT OC. I picked one up after my 9800 Pro that i modded to an XT died.

I myself am currently also in the process of choosing a new card too, what bothers me is that I can't find a clear test with benchmark results of the newest cards. I found some forums on which this same discussion (mostly 6600GT or X800) was going on and on those forums the x800 was advised by more people than the 6600GT. So based on this I think i'm going for the x800. My budget will be around 200 euro's and those cards are for sale for a little bit more then that.

I think i will be going for a x800 aswell, just need a good place to buy it because i don't want to use a months wage for a new card, i just need one that holds for a while like a year and a half before i need to think about getting a new one again.

Sorry, could you possibly link some of these discussions Bill. Most review sites have given the 6600GT editors choice gold awards and such.

hehe, a little bit over my budget but maybe if i'll wait just a little more...
I always buy my stuff at alternate (www.alternate.nl). It is 20 minutes driving away and they are always among the cheapest in the netherlands. The card that you mentioned is 340 euro's in the dutch shop but since alternate is orriginaly german maybe we get that price (299) a little later, let's hope!

If I where you I wouldn't buy it. Its logical that you can buy it for a reasonable price but thats because the newer cards beat the shit out of that card. Offcoarse you always will have that problem but I think you can buy a better card with your budget (and a newer card will last longer so eventually you won't have to buy a new card for a longer period and...well you know where I'm getting at Smile )

I would still wait for a month or 2 for the newer cards to come out Smile! Nothing is out right now that can't be played just fine on a Radeon 9600 128mb Smile!

Since you're norwegian, I recommend you go to www.hardware.no, enter the forum, make a new post in the "Hjelp til kjøp / salg av PC", and you'll get the BEST results for the price YOU want!
And they also tels you if it will work with the rest of the parts you got in your computer!

Without that forum, I would ended up with a expansive, sucky computer..
But thanks to them, I found something GOOD and CHEAP!

I hate you.
