EARTH 2160 is the official sequel of the award winning, very popular and top selling EARTH series and continues the brand of Earth 2140 and Earth 2150.

Only a few thousand humans managed to escape from the Earth before its collapse in 2150 A.D. They spent the next few years on the terra forming of the red planet, developing new technologies and building up new civilisations. Somehow each of the three fractions "Eurasian Dynasty", "United Civilised States" and "Lunar Corporation" did this independently and separately from each other - but in the year 2160 something strange happens in this new world. If ED, UCS and LC join forces or continue their old war against each other - is possibly now, up to the player.

Beside the usual venues in the solar system, there are some strange looking locations: planets with moving and reflecting liquid surfaces. And beside the standard RTS - resource acquisition, base building and destruction of enemy bases, the year 2160 will have some adventure inspired tasks for the players.

It's also to be noted that the engine "scales" to your hardware, meaning the more advanced hardware you have the better graphic you will get and vice versa. Twisted Evil . The devs go around saying it's the most advanced engine in a rts to date, time will tell if their right Razz ,but i really think they are.

Yeah thats what i love about this series, you can if you can afford and have put enough money and time into research develop a unit so frightening and expensive it will make the enemy cry for mercy Razz kinda like with Total Annihilation, it still maintains counters for everything, like if you build a big mofo with plasma cannons and shields, the enemy could take it out with rockets as they penetrate the shields Razz

"The economy is based on 3 main material types- water, metal and silicon. For each material there are 3 different sources. Metal types vary on the different maps. Color, HP, speed and armour of the units depend on the metal used. Number of all material sources is 18 (3 for water, 3 for silicon and 12 for metal"

I got it today.
I really don't think the gfx beat those of Dawn of War though.
The unit animations for example are REALLY crappy.
Multilanguage? I didn't get a language option during installation.
And it's not Starforce either, there is no copy protection at all on the dvd, but you have to activate your copy online or by telephone call. If you don't activate your game, you are limited to the first campaign and no multiplayer.

I just got my info from their forums Razz, i will fixit. With regards to unit animations, i didn't think they where crappy when looking at the vid's.
What kind of hardware do you have? since the game scales according to your hardware.

Well, perhaps it's just a matter of taste then Razz as i find their movement to very mechanized in the movies, which huge robots should be, also with regards to the "terminators" or the human size robots, running humanoids are very hard to animate, but i think they did an ok job of it regardless. I will definitely get this one tomorrow and come here and tell what i think of the animations when seeing first hand Smile

In my opinion, the walking and especially death animations of the human units suck.
Guess I'm just spoiled by those incredible moves and perfect anims in Dawn of War.

Yeah perhaps warhammer is alot about melee fighting despite with all the guns etc so all the "bodily" animations 'have' to be perfect, Earth is more huge robots large cannons and as such those have to be centered on more when developing Razz. I never quite got into the DOW universe i like C&C games and the other earth games more Razz the empire earth games included Smile

I'll wait for a proper review before I decide whether to get this.

There are too many games coming out that I might buy for me to make any rash decisions.

If you can activate by phone there shouldn't be TOO much problem in getting around the copy protection.

Yay!, the aliens are coming!. Nice to see a new race to the series somewhat more bionic also, for variation when the others gets boring with all their metal Smile Though i wonder what kind of technology these aliens have as they can't possibly use the same kind as the other races Razz
I'm so anxious for this game it's like waiting for Westwood to release "Red Alert" all over again, which i remember buying from a taxi driver who just transported a pressguy to a conference and he got a copy for free, which i bought off him 2 days before store release Very Happy
