I know this is going way back, but I know some of you remember, can anyone tell me why this release was nuked?

2001-06-17 PC Game Rips Operation Flashpoint (c) Codemasters MYTH 63x2.88 MB

This was the rls I got years ago. Recently, couldnt seem to update it, so I grabbed the dev rls

2001-06-16 PC Game ISOs Operation Flashpoint (c) Codemasters DEVIANCE 33x15 MB

Then I noticed this: both nfo's contain the exact same sentance.

Quote:
Additional note: while we tested we found no trace of the 'fabulous' 'FADE protection' - so we can only assume for now that the press releases about it were just the usual company bullshit.

I found that quite odd.

Furthermore, the dev nfo says the key check is gone, but it still requires one to install. Then install fails at the end on a 'cannot create file' ijl15.dll Can anyone shed any light on this? Aborting the setup and manually copying the rest of the files completes the install, but then I get a key error running the game. WTF?

Confused Is it my image? Was the dev rls a good rls? Is it the key? Why was the myth rls nuked? Confused

As far as I remember all of the releases contained fade, it was never fully cracked. I bought it though so could be wrong.

Afaik this game never actually had FADE, was only threatened, a setup error like that is more than likely your image, FADE simply slows the game down and shows a message like "Legal games done fade" or something like that, This should also be in the pc games technical section Wink As for the nuke, I'm not sure, but someone else who leeched this a while back may know

Myth and Deviance were partner groups. Myth was the rip section and Deviance the ISO section.
The fade protection was absent at the retail of the game, but was later added with the patches.

I'm not quite sure what your problem is, just complete the installation any way possible, apply all patches... Last time I installed them in this order: patch 1.20 , patch 1.30 and lastly patch 1.46.

I remember vaguely that the patches themselves were safedisc or safecast wrapped, so I used a sefedisc unwrapper for each one.

EDIT: Since you get a file error, the nuke could be due to a bad pack or something. So download a full iso release.

EDIT: Megagames has more cracks for this than GCW,also has the 1.46 crack I probably used (Deviance) I remember with this crack I still got the fade messages occasionally but the game wasn't affected.

The keycheck was indeed removed so that you can enter any key and it will proceed with installation.

As for the installation error I never encountered it with the DEViANCE release.

fade was quite real
most noticable in multiplayer, it disconnected after a while of playing with the message "original games do not fade"
in singleplayer the weapon aim was supposed to degrade and the enemy AI started getting increasingly hard by cheating
the entire protection was removed in the later patches by BIS themselves

after many complaints from the fans that they spent more time on FADE than they did on the enemy AI.

patch it to 1.46 and use the cracked EXE and you will have no problems. The game is an all-time classic war sim which has not been surpassed since its release.

I played Opflash for years and we didn't have any problems with FADE. The trick is make sure you use a keygen and organize with your buddies what CD key you are going to use (don't use the same one twice).

The real important thing is don't have the same cd key as the host.

Also, get the Resistance expansion and patch it up to 1.96.
The initial impressions of Armed Assault was a bit mixed imho, specially in regard of bugs, but I think when the english version hits the streets in feb it will surpass Op Flashpoint on all levels.

There is also a huge mod that adds the Flashpoint campaign in ARMA, with all the cutscenes, dialogues, maps.
I don't remember where i got it, though, and if it adds the Red Hammer and Resistance campaigns.

Red Hammer as far as I'm aware isn't included since it was not made by Bohemia and might belong to Codemasters, other than that it should be the latest version of Flashpoint (gold version.) with the resistance expansion (Also fully patched.) though maybe there's other improvements as they changed the logo and name of the game.

A remaster is coming, nothing fancy though since it's practically what the Unofficial ArmA: Resistance patch already does:

Quote:
25 years after the release of Operation Flashpoint, we're releasing Arma: Cold War Assault Remastered, now with widescreen support and updated code for better compatibility with modern hardware. Currently available as a demo on Steam, the full game will be released at a later date.

Also, the source code is available: https://github.com/BohemiaInteractive/CWR

Quote:
Modernized to C++20, built with CMake and Clang, with cross-platform support for Windows x64 and Linux x64. Bohemia Interactive is releasing it to the community that has kept this game alive for more than two decades — to study it, build on it, fix it, and create from it.

On a related note, the closest to a remake that we have at the moment is the Cold War Rearmed III mod (OF's legendary campaigns ported to ArmA 3 ghetto-style): https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2316343124
