Quote: | CI Games has announced that they plan to release Lords of the Fallen 2, the sequel to the 2014 Souls-like, sometime in 2023. The company revealed these plans their latest Consolidated Management report, adding that their key IPs currently in development will move over to Unreal Engine 5 too.
CI Games confirmed that internal developer Hexworks had been working on Lords of the Fallen 2 since 2019, with over 60 employees currently working at the studio. They’re planning to start the game’s marketing by the third quarter of 2022, with the goal to release the sequel by 2023 as a full-priced title. |

still alive somehow
Quote: | Now, after a period of uncertainty, CI Games has confirmed a sequel to the game is still happening, only it's now in development by a New York-based studio called Defiant (no, not the same studio who made Hand of Fate 2).
CI Games made the announcement today, but didn't mention when the sequel would launch, nor any other pertinent details, though it will release for both consoles and PC. Defiant is a new studio with no previous titles to its name, though it does reportedly boast talent who have worked with Just Cause creators Avalanche Studios.
"We talked to a number of globally respected studios that had shown a strong interest in making the next LotF, and received several solid pitches," CI Games CEO Marek Tymiński said in a statement. "We finally decided to move forward with Defiant because we were impressed with their game concept, production expertise, and the pedigree of their developers." |

The first attempt turned out to be Dark Souls' simple-minded chav cousin affected by arthritis and with a fetish for janky repetition, but it wasn't all bad in my opinion. It had a respectable visual design going for it, some (basic) challenge and no hand-holding which is still a rarity in today's market. Unless with the new dev team it comes back as a peevpee not-so-royale fallen lord, I'm cautiously curious

If you don't mind having to deal with some wonky hit detection, lazy level design and NPCs coming straight out of a B-movie, it's a passable Dark Souls extra-light crippled edition clone. At least the fantasy environments and gritty style are inspired and it's definitely not your awesomebutton-powered game, which makes it automatically more interesting than most of the tripey-A stuff out there.
Deck13's second Soulsian game (The Surge) is a better experience overall though, with tighter combat and more complex sci-f..industrial layouts.

I liked the aesthetic of LotF, especially the bulky armor style that reminded me of Warhammer. Other than that everything else was mediocre. Not bad, just very forgettable.

The aesthetics and the setting are great.
Plus the idle animations are excellent.

It's a game that's worth a try, don't get your hope high and you should be fine.
Like ixi said, Surgina is a bit better.

https://www.gematsu.com/2021/01/lords-of-the-fallen-2-logo-revealed
Quote: | CI Games has revealed the official logo for Lords of the Fallen 2, which is in development by subsidiary Hexworks for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
“Lords of the Fallen 2 is our largest project in terms of the whole of CI Games,” said CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski in a statement. “The previous game was a full priced, full featured release and we’re approaching the next one with an even larger scope. The sequel will move the franchise to dark fantasy and will offer a revised and challenging combat system.”
According to the publisher, since the initial announcement of Lords of the Fallen 2 a few years ago, which was first planned to be an “AA game,” the scope has “grown immensely” to become “a fully featured game that has a strong chance to not only make the franchise becoming more popular among Soulsborne / Souls-like communities and beyond, but establish it as a long-running franchise for CI alongside Sniper Ghost Warrior.”
A release date has yet to be announced. |

I'd rather have these AA (I think) type games try and fail than something that Saints Row retarded abomination.
So this an DL2 are more than welcome.
