WATCHMEN
Plot:
In a gritty and alternate 1985 the glory days of costumed vigilantes have been brought to a close by a government crackdown, but after one of the masked veterans is brutally murdered an investigation into the killer is initiated. The reunited heroes set out to prevent their own destruction, but in doing so discover a deeper and far more diabolical plot.
Director: Zack Snyder (300, dawn of the dead)
Cast:
Rorshach: Jackie Earle Haley
Ozymandias: Mathew Goode
Dr. Manhattan: Billy Crudup
Silk Spectre (1l): Carla Gugino
Silk Spectre (2): Malin Akerman
Nite Owl: Patrick Wilson
The Comedian: Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Matt Frewer: Moloch
Trailer: nope
Pics:
IMDB: misc images of city scenes... they totally visually nailed that street corner newspaper stand location.
http://imdb.com/gallery/ss/0409459
image to actor comparisons - i think visually most of them are pretty spot on:
http://www.firstshowing.net/2007/07/25/watchmen-casting-officially-confirmed-early/
Misc Notes:
Zach snyder stated that the film would not be like 300 in terms of style, but instead it would be a gritty thriller like se7en.

It was an excellent adaptation, but the movie was shite. Maybe the comic was shite too but I haven't read it.

Other movies by him worth mentioning is Night Of The Living Dead (+remake of it) |
i ment the dawn of the dead remake by snyder, not the original dead series... as far as remakes go, even though he went the fast zombie route (which, lets face it, is kinda unavoidable when it comes to todays movie watchers), i think he did a great job with the remake.

if you haven't read it, how can you say it's an excellent adaptation with any authority. I think you may be in a minority that class 300 as shite | Majority. I know people who loved the comic and the movie and ooh and aww. But like seriously... it's just ick... looks nice, sounds nice, but other than that is has nothing going for it Visually its stunning. If you want to take a photography class, watch 300, but if you want a decent movie watch something else

It's a matter of personal taste. Just cos you don't like a movie - it really doesnt mean it's shite. It's as easy as that. I don't like religion, but is it shite? 2/3 of the earth would say no.

after watching 300 i came away feeling that there was something missing that would have made it amazing, but as it was, stylistically and in terms of action it was great... you cant fault the story because it was a very stylised, simplified and clear cut (good/evil) version of events that came from a graphic novel, flawlessly adapted for film...
dont fault the film, fault what it was based on if you must.
but all that aside, watchmen is an amazing story, and if the director follows it as closely as he did 300, both in sticking to the story as its written, and the style and tone it was told/shown in, this will be one HELL Of a fucking awesome film.

I think he will do just fine in the directing seat but I personal feel a fear towards Warner they are putting some limitations on the film, such as the comic within the comic which apparently are going to be a dvd extra instead within the film itself...

well i hope its not a dvd bonus... i hope its reinserted PROPERLY as part of the film as a directors cut... but i have faith in snyder, i think he likes and has respect for the source material, so im HOPING he'll do right by us in the end, even if we have to wait for the bluray release

He did quite well with the extra on the Dawn of The Dead remake, creating like 45 minutes of bonus material; Newscasts, Andy From the Gun store segment and alot more extra scenes throughout the movie.
