Bought an externally powered Anker USB hub as my motherboard USB ports are getting a bit weedy when it comes to supplying power to connected devices, leading to random dropouts.

I've got a WD My Passport drive. The sleep timer (drive spins down) is set to 30 minutes via the WD Drive Utilities app. When the drive is connected directly to my PC USB ports, this functions correctly. However, when the drive is connected to the Anker USB hub, it will never sleep - seems like the hub is constantly keeping it in wake mode.

I've Googled this issue to no avail (most people's problems seem to be external drives not spinning back up correctly after going to sleep), as well as checked on the Anker community support forums - also no dice.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
