What's there to talk about? We all know what the islamists are capable of after all the shit they've done (and are still doing) in the middle east as well as Europe and the US. We have no solutions on how to stop them since terrorism is notoriously difficult to fight. We (as in the west) have tried to introduce some kind of democracy to islamic countries but those democracies just turned into islamist versions.
The only (and unrealistic and cruel) way to stop it is to cut it off at the root which would mean a war against Islam. I guess we could go after the main islamist organizations, kill the entire leadership etc. but new leaders and new groups would appear not to mention the fact that 1.9 billion muslims would turn into fanatics with an even stronger hatred towards the west. It would also prove them right as far as the islamist view of the west is concerned.
The far right in Europe/EU has gained a LOT of supporters and gotten very strong. One of their big goals is to surround EU with a "wall" against immigrants, esp. islamic immigrants. That could possibly stop things from getting worse.. but at what cost? There's also the proposition to create immigrant/asylum centers outside Europe to stop would-be immigrants to flood into Europe which in turn is a major cause of this wave of far right sentiments among politicians and the general population that we're seeing.
As someone who is fairly pragmatic there are far right ideas that I agree with since it's clear we're not able to handle the problems we've experienced over the last ~20 years. It's sad but true. Europe, well, the more developed countries in Europe had open border policies, allowing far more middle eastern immigrants to settle than we could handle. It's not so much that they're muslims, it's more to do with us not having the resources, knowledge or plans in place to integrate them into our societies.
They come from oppressive cultures and many of them simply don't adapt or even learn the language in the country they live in. Many don't have the qualifying skills necessary to find work etc... Ultimately they feel like they're not part of society and instead create their own enclaves, live in very segregated suburbs which are more like the culture they came from etc.
I think the very fact that we took in so many at once just led to them being a separate group from the rest of the population. With such a huge amount of people from similar countries they can keep living according to their culture and beliefs without the need to adapt and integrate into their adoptive society. Imagine if something happens in our countries and the only place we could flee to was middle eastern countries. We'd DEFINITELY keep to ourselves and live according to our culture.
Oh well, I'm not a politician or activist; I can't do much more than see what happens.
