A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.
Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, “Trap” stars Josh Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills and Allison Pill. The film is produced by Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock and M. Night Shyamalan. The executive producer is Steven Schneider.
the daughter is the one killing and the father can't bear to stop his dear daughter. A somewhat unpredictable twist would be the father realising at the end that he has to kill his daughter.
Apparently the twist is that it's M. Night Shyamalan's daughter concert and the viewer who paid for it is trapped.

was ok, but very conveniently how everything falls in place for hartnett character, very amateurish done sometimes, but interesting movie for sure, the concert worked well for the movie
It's staggering to think that M. Night Shyamalan was responsible for The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. Trap is amongst his worst, which isn't saying much.
It's definitely ok to watch. I loved the girl, she had some great energy. Was surprised to see she actually is only like 13/14 and not some 20ish gal they told to act a teenager. Definitely paid off to have a real teen in that role.
The ending took waaaay to long and could have had 2 or 3 less turns, it just kept on going. It's curious, I read that Shalalalalam financed this movie himself, so there was no corporate garbage pushed on him, and still he couldn't iron out the faults in the script. Guess he really had reached his heights with 6th Sense and Unbreakable.
The script itself could more or less be fixed quite easily:
Spoiler:
Don't start at the concert, start at home with the family and give the mother a bit of background. Show how she doesn't trust her husband but tries to hide it. That way, the ending pays of better. To get this screentime, take away a bit of his "exploration" at the concert which was way too much anyway.
Also introduce a bit more mystique by not showing the police surrounding the building etc., let us discover the situation together with the guy.
IMO, that would have worked for better pacing and payoff.

I think this one was kinda okay for what it was. It was entertaining for what is was. However not without flaws.
In a current world where everything is a reboot or rehash of hollywood crap, this is kinda nice.
Hartnett did okay for a psycho. Especially with some on the closeups and facial tics.
Those who are surprised this is the same director as Unbreakable, should watch Split. Even though the last one in the trilogy is not as strong.
