Why do I have a feeling that Ryan Gosling wasn't the first choice for this action role?
Cause for me personally he is always and forever just a real human bean.

Dwayne Johnson, Keanu Reaves, Nicolas Cage, Jason Statham were all attached to play Colt Seavers at different stages of development.
Keanu Reeves couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, Gosling has at least charisma.
Whoa… quite the hot take there. For me, Gosling's "charisma" is as big as Reeves' acting chops. And I'm not sure about his acting either; he just stares. He stared in Nice Guys, Drive, Blade Runner. The most lively I have seen him in was La La. I haven't seen Barbie. But really it's a mystery to me why he is so successful.

Funnily enough, staring at things/people and just looking cool whilst also showing muscled pectorals for good measure was all he did in Crazy Stupid Love too, haha. He's not a particularly great actor but he has the kind of presence that suits movies that don't require dramatization, à la Hollystock model. You collocate him in the right context and most of the time it just works(tm)
I can't speak for Barbie either because my attempt to watch that movie failed and the mkvdemo prematurely met its end
Adam Driver, now that’s a terrible and ugly actor. To the point that he’s annoying me every time I open the Plex library, because his ugly face is there on the front page with Ferrari. It’s probably a terrible flick, so all the nerves and dying brain cells might not be worth it!
It's weird - the plot is ok, but a lot and I mean a lot of dialogue is ad-libed and improvised. It was ultra off-puting for me. The pressure is put on doing a lot of stunts.
Overall I hated the first half, the second half is more action packed and bearable. Ryan Gosling is the awkward Ryan Gosling. Overall my opinion is that the movie is a mess, kind-a like the movie that they shoot in this movie (and my english in this post). I didn't really liked it to the point that I gave back money for the ticket to my friend for coming to see this. Although in the end he and my wife said it wasn't bad.
I gave it 5/10. Don't ad-lib most of your dialogue.

Couldn't make it more than an hour into this - generic, uninspired, and just...dull.

It had nice action, but its not really something you remember after watching it. Only good thing about it was that he did his own stunts and also, it does have a point that stuntmen should deserve more credit than they get. Imo the Oscar academy should include stunts as they are the only ones who put their life at risk in movies.
But storywise? Well..nothing special. I can't really understand why it has 7.2 on Imdb...i'd give much less.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Yeah i knew about that one, but even though the Oscars are pretty much meaningless they really should include stuntmen as they include stuff like custume design/Makeup/Sound mixing and sound editing...it should include stunts too.
Speaking of it, its just silly that they never seem (as far as I know) horror movies.
Then again, it's just a pat on your own shoulder...the whole oscar award that is..
Edit: OOT...i also think it was a stupid to give Bob Dylan the Nobelprice in literature..there are tons of music awards, did they really need to use the Nobelprice in literature on him? ah well...
