The Day After aka Cuban Missile Crisis

Developer: G5 Software

Publisher: 1C

Game Plot:
Cuban Missile Crisis is a Real-Time Strategy game combined with a turn-based global tactical mode, thrusting gamers into a world ravaged by the military-political confrontation between USA and USSR in 1962. Cuban Missile Crisis offers gamers an alternative interpretation of the events that followed the famous global standoff on the small island nation. After the crisis broke out, two superpowers unleashed their nuclear arsenal on the world, leveling Cuba and turning it, along with the majority of the world's metropolitan expanses into scorched radioactive deserts.

The ones that managed to survive the disaster realized that the most precious resources are clean earth and water. The remaining world citizens find themselves in a war fighting for their very survival.

Features:
* Cuban Missile Crisis provides an interesting mix of real-time battles and a turn-based global strategy mode, forcing players to use tactical troop movements while managing resources and armies
* Dozens of missions, through four sides of the conflict (USSR, French and German Alliance, China, American and British Alliance).
* Varied types of weapons and equipment - helicopters, rockets, reconnaissance troops, etc.
* Radioactive contamination zones that have an influence upon military equipment and troops.

my review that i wrote for isonews

give it a try
basically its a turn based board style game mixed togheter with rts combat like blitzkrieg.
first you put out your troops on the map and try to capture valuable assests and stuff. and if there is conflict like say you clash with enemy infaltry then you get to actually play it yourself in RTS mode.
infact its abit like lords of the rings RTS but more advanced.
the story is about this alternate future where cuba and usa went to war and america and russia basically nuked the world and now remaining countries fight over whats left.
(intro movie looks like it has stolen clips from terminator 3 lol)

anyway the gfx are pretty good for being 2d. music is mehish and well i guess the game is pretty good if your into this type of stuff.

i think this game will find its small little fanbase but i think most wont like it

7-/10

I loved blitzkrieg, THE best WW2 RTS in my opinion, i loved the realism brought from the updated sudden strike engine with the new simplicity and great controls they added.
Most games after blitzkrieg kinda sucked tough, nothing special just different wars blahblah..
This tough, basically blitzkrieg in a post-nuclear world, must be cool Very Happy

Blitzkrieg does not use the Sudden Strike engine. Nival developed their own engine.

This is a very basic game.
A unit cap of 17 is not gonna give you a feeling of global warfare.
A dissapointment for me.

The unit cap of 17 is because you're still just a Major.
I'm Colonel now and I have a unit cap of 28. And that is just the maximal amount of tanks/aircraft. When you start a mission you'll get infantry and extra artillery, and sometimes extra air support.

What this game is really missing is a map editor.
