A Black family moves to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood where malevolent forces, next door and otherworldly, threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them.

If its good then yay.
If its shit the phrase go woke go broke will be uttered.
Will wait for hump reaction as these kind of shows regardless of quality get a fresh critic score based on premise alone.
Depends on the medium and the target audience.
If you have an established audience that doesn't care for wokeness, then going woke will push your audience away if your wokeness is preachy. Sprinkling it in, using some current day political correctness is always ok. Everyone wants to be equal and respectful. However if you pin one audience member against another, one audience member will quit the show because nobody wants to be treated like trash. Bipoc don't like being stereotyped as drunks, robbers, killers, rapists just like white people don't like being stereotyped as white supremacists lol.
If your wokeness is established and your audience is woke, then the show will carry because it promotes a progressive ideal. Advertisers will come, network will carry the show in support, but as seasons go, it will become too expensive to continue and the show may or may not last 2 seasons as it can't garner more advertisers because ratings are of just your target audience. Which is limited.
This show right now is giving me a twilight zone episode vibes. But its also giving me antebellum vibes where its just a masochistic look how black people should feel in the world and how they assume white people should see them in the world. And that whole thing collapses cause in the trailer the realtor is white and polite when she sells the house. and who doesn't check out the neighborhood of a house they want to buy?!
I hope its good and not modern woke edgy. Cause it won't live on any radar for more than the entire season and will be forgotten until season 2 trailer drops and it'll just be a faint curiosity.
Woke shows doesn't have an audience, all those shows gets crushed in user ratings but often praised by critics, so it's about appealing to critics and perhaps getting some award.
Batwoman, which probably is the most woke show created so far, has like 3.2 on IMDB. If there were people who enjoyed these LBTQ topics, hating on white men etc then that show would be The Empire Strikes Back of that kind of content, but no, no one likes it. Those 100 twatter people who gives it 10/10 isn't enough against millions of normal people.
They do have an audience.
Picard has an audience.
Rick and morty has audience.
My little pony has an audience.
Twilight zone had an audience.
Std has an audience.
Lower decks has an audience.
Star wars sequels have an audience.
Even Batwoman has an audience.
Blackish has an audience.
Current netflix originals have an audience.
Granted the audience isn't huge in all examples and in some its massive.
So stop saying woke shows have no audience.
Majority of late night shows are woke and they have a significant audience.
There is a market. But it isn't huge. But significant enough and the cause is significant enough to puruse.
Woke shows like Rick and morty and std and even star wars sequels though focus on wokeness and progressivism only work because they sprinkle it in and don't preach. Others preach and push basic audience away and the onus is on the studios to continue the shows because the audience isn't there to drive ad revenue.
And with this show whilst it looks interesting and ill check it out, it the entire premise is a masochistic fever dream, then I won't enjoy it. If its just a lynchesque weirdness, I'll enjoy it.
Looks intriguing, but it's already giving me some of those Handmaid's Tale "misery porn" vibes, where the whole show is just one shitty thing after another happening to the main characters. Might work out okay though since it's a limited series.
No. Not the ones where stories, characters are built around it completely. Something like Batwoman doesn't have an audience, not one that is big enough to give the show anything above 3.4..
If we are going to count every show or movie where it's "sprinkled" but isn't the main idea, then we must include like 95% of what's been done in the recent years from Hollywooke
You are aware that people like you are the ones that downvote shows they don't like. And while the audience may not be as big as they hoped, they do have an audience and it is steadily growing. Enough of an audience for the show to trend and be talked about. Whether its organic or not, is a different discussion.
So quit it.
You're not the target audience for it. Don't watch it.
Target audiences watch it and enjoy it.
You're spewing bullshit without understanding how these things work. The ratings are tanking and more people are pulling away, but there is still a continuing slowly growing audience.
Every normal person will downvote something they don't like, why wouldn't they?
Target audiences watches it and are not happy, that's why scores ends up like that. You're spewing nonsense.
HeelvsBabyFace goes through statistics of both views and ratings, and they're just dropping. There's no "growing audience" for this shit. It appeals to the tiny, tiny but loud twatter crowd, they're in the hundreds, they're a piss in the ocean, they don't even count.
Anyways it's getting too OT. As for this show we can only assume i'll leave it at that.
Show is shit. But it has an audience.
Audience is shit and nonexistent.
Audience is nothing but a piss in the ocean.
Hundreds of twatter twats.
But they don't exist.
Lol.
Ratings matter for ad revenue.
Show is shit and audience drops, hardcore fans remain.
Ad revenue is shit but pays for the show due to wokeness and it'll look bad if they leave until something happens that breaks contract.
Likely won't see season 3 as it is burning money.
All this is true and it also has an audience.
Almost 10k fans on reddit.
Trending when it airs.
Small as it is. It still exists.
More people technically are aware of batwoman shitty cringe than some action scene on hbos watchmen.
Let that sink in. Time to be powerful. Yet I can't name a cringy catchy line from watchmen
You can have a guy discuss numbers all he wants.
You can have any opinion you want.
But don't diminish fans of a shitty show.
They enjoy it whilst you look at wokeness in every show and claim it shit because of tropes that have been in effect since television shows became the norm.
Back on topic. I hope this show is good. Good woke shows are worth it. Entertaining creativity that also educates and informs on harsh realities of the world is worth every penny.
