Considering absolutely nothing is coming out in November and December Laughing what are your picks for GOTY this year?

Mine are:

1. Baldur's Gate 3
1a. Alan Wake 2

(I honestly can't decide between the two for first place Very Happy )

2. System Shock Remake
3. Spider-Man 2
4. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
5. Assassin's Creed Mirage
6. Hi-Fi Rush
7. Viewfinder

Rogue Trader and Ready or Not are nothing to you, but another Ubi rehash is worth mentioning? Rolling Eyes

1. System Shock Remake
2. BG3
3. Atomic Heart (if it was this year)
4. RE4make
5. Deadspace Remake

Armoured Core VI was pretty good, Hogwarts was ok, the rest was meh skip/unplayable bad.

Ready or Not is coming out this year? Because it came out in Early Access in 2021.

I have over 130 hours in it.

This isn't game of the year really, don't care for that, as I find it too stupid of a concept to begin with, and BG3 will win it most likely to continue a tradition of average in one of the most overrated series of games ever made, but at least I can give the devs credit for putting in the work and delivering a lot of content for the price. This is just a top most enjoyable experiences of the year for me.

1. Hi-Fi Rush
2. Lies of P
3. Alan Wake 2
4. Armored Core VI
5. Repella Fella

Haven't really given Atomic Heart a shot, and I doubt I will by the end of the year. Only Rogue Trader has a realistic chance of getting in the list, but I doubt I'll have the time to dig in to it this year either.

Everything else I don't even want to mention as they are games I would have been happier not trying to begin with.

I haven’t been playing many of the new stuff. Only BG3, Talos Principle 2 and Starfield.

So my vote goes to:

1. Talos principle 2
2. BG3

Yeah, weird choice, I know but TP2 just scratched an itch, both the puzzles and the story.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I played like 60% of Breath of The Wild emulated on my Steam Deck, and then I found out TOTK is a 100% rehashed map of BOTW, with islands being the only major addition when it comes to landmass. After collecting most of the stuff in BOTW I burned out on both BOTW and didn't even bother starting up TOTK Laughing

while that is correct the time passed between both releases and the way it has been rehashed just about justified ""another"" playthrough for me Very Happy

but if you played both end to end then yeah, this would not be on your list

Some of the best games I played this year are (in no particular order):

System Shock Remake
Wartales
Jagged Alliance 3
Dead Space Remake
Lies of P
Armored Core VI
Blasphemous 2
Remnant II

Honorable mentions:
Darkest Dungeon II
Atomic Heart
Shadow Gambit

Disappointing/Overrated:
Starfield
Baldur's Gate 3
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Diablo IV
Hogwart's Legacy
Lords of the Fallen

But this year ain't over, I can't wait for Rogue Trader and Ready or Not.

I have not played a single game you guys have listed so far Sad
(Other than Diablo 4, and not GOTY. its boilerplate hack and slash)

But from reviews from my gaming friends, Id have to toss in my 2nd hand opinion for:
Lies of P

Most them loved it.

same, well up to windwaker even - then they changed to generic openworld game. On the console/emu side, Metroid: Dread was kinda cool as well.

Someone mentioned it in the other thread as well, Viewfinder is a must play if you like games like portal etc, really cool game.

I stopped playing ~3 months ago. TOTK fatigue. It's hard, because when I play a Zelda game, I want to do all the things. It gets pretty annoying ~100hrs into it. Never had that issue with older Zelda games. Doesn't help that the map is nearly identical

1. Baldur's Gate 3
2. System Shock Remake
3. Resident Evil 4 Remake
4. Dead Space Remake

BIG GAP HERE

5. Alan Wake 2
6. Jagged Alliance 3
7. Lords of the Fallen

That's a lot of remakes! Rogue trader might take a spot there but I'm not too sure I liked the actual gameplay system in the alpha. Remains to be seen.
