Hell, once, I arrived at a castle, re-equipped everything, only to lie down in a bed not 5 minutes later and have Henry the fuck-stick decide to strip off all his clothes and sleep naked (no, he didn't get laid).

It'd be one thing if it was head/torso/legs/shoes - but you've got like LAYERS upon fucking LAYERS of shit. Not to mention 4 goddamn belt and weapon slots. Multiply that times three outfits, and every time it happens its like 15 minutes of needless work. I've lost HOURS to this shit.

So yea, fuck the faggot who decided to make that a thing - hopefully someone mods that the fuck out - or at least introduces a "saved outfit" mod to counter it.

I thought there was a way to organise outfits?

Edit: At work so I can't test:

But I recall seeing the word 'outfit' in game, not that I have much worth swapping between yet

You have three different preset outfit slots (colored red/yellow/green). You can change between them with the press of a button. However, at MANY times during the campaign all of your outfits are completely stripped (the presets are lost) and you have to set them up again manually. For example, if you opt to do a hand-to-hand arena combat fight, the game will strip whatever outfit you have equipped when you accept, and WILL NOT automatically re-equip it when the fight is finished.

Also, this happens frequently with ALL 3 preset slots at once certain points in the story. It's bullshit.

I finally found some time to roleplay as Enrico during the weekend and spent quite a few hours doing all kinds of side-activities in Trosky whilst experimenting with treacherous trolling sessions against both bandits and the filthy Cumans, jesus christ be praised. After the so-so intro (which overstays its welcome in terms of exposition), the game opens up and that's where all its mechanics shine, providing the sweet sense of pure undiluted immersion that so many modern gaems fail to achieve Me Gusta

There are imperfections such as the exploitable economy through extensive panthering around and smuggling horses with the Gypsies, unresponsive UI and the combat system that can be trivialized (master strikes ahoy) but so far, it is the Part II that my body needed to cleanse itself from the big green pear-y witch. It's got heart and charm in spades, re-proposing the same winning formula with some refinements/additions to it along with that familiar underlying immersive sim-like clunkiness that I love. Although the medieval tone is still authentic, it comes with more variations and verbosity which may or may not be seen as a negative -- then again, the game isn't supposed to replace the original but it's a continuation of its story with more flavours added to the mix. [Mutt's hysterical barking intensifies]

I've been lucky with bugs so far, though I reckon things could worsen after reaching Kuttenberg and tangling with all the later stuff. Still, at such a snail extra-leisure pace it'll probably take me months to progress anyway so patient bear has no issues with that.

Man, i don't remember that the first was THIS annoying in the beginning. Buy shit? Fat chance, you get half a piece of money for selling anything. Want to repair? Fat chance, same reason. Earning some measly money from selling? Well, i want to invest in new gear, not repairing this absolute shite i have. When i finally do repair i meet one group of enemies and the durability is back to zilch and i'm just as broke. When your hp is down towards the bottom of the pit you figure it's a easy fix to just sleep it off. Fat chance, you get like 30-40% hp from that and you're unable to sleep anymore.

The developer thought "Hmm, i want realism, so how can i make everything so annoying that players will rage and i can say "this is about realism" to make them shut up?" Even though you suck your thumb for 2 days and your stabbystabby wound is completely gone.

First thing you pretty much have to do - brew and sell some potions for the starter town alchemist ( a few hundred gold's worth - always haggle!). Then take that money, go to the starter town tailor (in the back behind the stocks), and buy yourself a foppish noble outfit to get that charisma up.

After that, it's simply a matter of using fast travel a few times until you run across a bandit encounter, quick-save before the fight (game is unplayable without quicksave IMO), and then you'll have plenty of gear both to utilize and sell. Also helps to get a horse to carry your loot (also a necessity).

My first time around I didn't do this (neither that alchemy nor charisma clothes) and was perpetually poor. Now I've got plenty of money. It's a bit of a shit system (with most of your income stemming from fast travel encounters loot), but it is what it is.

Problem with this is, at least according to comments -

1) It works on the old grandma's too
2) It works on dudes - apparently dicks were not modelled

I swear they want people to mod this game. Overloaded? Can't run, can't fast travel, can't fucking mount. And where do you unload your cargo? Only on the other side of the map, rest don't have vendors or anything. Get the fuck outta here Laughing

No not really. Here people magically know it was you based on nothing in particular. If you sneak around and rob people during the night and get the fuck out, someone will peg you for a thief and you'll lose rep. Absolute horseshite system that takes the fun out of gaming.

Edit: Ok i had enough. Some psychic in the nomad camp figured out i stole and when i arrived with a new horse to sell, the guy won't talk to me. Just enough.

Someone really needs to step up and make a UI (specifically looting screen and inventory) enhancement mod.

-We need the ability to sell straight from the horse's inventory when the shop screen is open, rather than having to go outside the building, transfer all of the heavy shit onto our person, then go back in and sell. This is fucking stupid.

-The inventory UI needs to be built in such a way that the player doesn't have to "tab" over left or right to see full item stats when the inventory screen is open.

-There needs to be a way to collapse specific sections of the inventory screen on the "All" category, rather than just removing all the labels entirely. Finding shit like repair kits etc. is a pain.

Find either a drying rack or smokehouse in town. Always dry all your food / smoke all your meats. They keep basically forever then.

Also, don't underestimate the buffs that drinking gives you - can be a good way to gain nourishment and energy for cheap, but the skill needs to be worked up and it's best to have some strong "Hair of the Dog" potions first just in case, lol.

Apart from the console centric UI, everything you guys are complaining about is why I bought and backed KCD

If in 90% of threads people can tell me 'maybe this game isn't for you anymore', then maybe it's time to accept similar advice

The tutorial text literally tells you about this. If you are spotted, and then stuff goes missing, they will blame you.

They didn't do it this way in the first game, so you could rob the entire town overnight and skip off with everything. This is a much better deterrent and it means you have to actually stay hidden the entire time.

I'm sorry, but having like 7 days punishment in a game you can't sleep for more than like 7 hours at a time is ludicrous. I know you like realism and simulation but i don't. I enjoy games being games and realism up to a point.

Only thievery issue I’ve had is I stole an item, armor, and put it on and someone got mad for stealing and flaunting it and wanted to put me in the pillory. But you can just talk your way out of it or bribe. Not a big deal

I’ve snuck into peoples houses and stole with no issues. The whole system is kind of glitchy and inconsistent tbh, it may rely on dice rolls going on behind the scenes

The beauty of it is that the game gives you complete freedom to make the experience as hard as you like in terms of money and progression. You can comfortably rack up a few thousand Groschen in just a couple of virtual weeks by being a serial robber as long as you sneak away from the village(s) for a while (also remembering to close doors on your way out) and then either sell the stolen goods to the Nomads or store them and wait some days, by becoming a master dice player, by stealing unguarded horses and bringing them to the handler, by being a tournament grinder, and so forth. Same with eating and sleeping, the game lets you overcome them quite easily (smoked goods, stolen food, free meals/beds from friends etc.)

Add to that all the XP gained from random combat/training, the charisma-related tricks from choosing the fancy outfits + trinkets and the dozens of unlockable perks that give you a lot of extra help, and you can essentially get away with anything after just a few hours. I'm actually at the point where I'd need a hardcore mode already Razz

Basically every game in existence has utterly failed to disincentivize stealing. So reading about overzealous punishment systems for crime makes me happy.

Then whats the point in having stealing? I know you wanted your spot by being a bit of a contrarian, but in a game you need that "well, this is why i got caught" knowledge. Without that it's pointless.

If you don't know why you got caught then for sure. It's a single player game, you'll always be the first fresh face and last to enter and exit a village.

My secret power was to kill a ton of bandints early on (the combat system is good, just don't rush it) and loot all their stuff, get completely overburdened, walk back to the nearest town, gain 2 levels of strength, vitality and sometimes a full level-up by doing so. Aside from the money, that comes from selling of course.
