So apparently Justin Roiland made a Rick and Morty show without Rick and Morty. All episodes on 8th of May on hulu or torrent or usenet or your illegal streaming provider...
Now you know why it took 3 years to make this season of RM.
Well, Dan Harmon isn't on board an it's obvious, he is the far better writer.
Questionable.
He's better at story structure which helped Rick and Morty.
But as the seasons went along just like community the show turned garbage and better structure wouldn't save it.
Roland is decent at best, and without someone toxic like Harmon pushing stupid ideas into the kids mind when it comes to story structure we might get something creative and interesting.
It's funny how it says co-creator. Harmon was just a name attached and producer to help Roland sell the idea.

Finished it. Really good with a couple of great episodes. First episodes were very similar to R&M especially that one character is basically Rick but less abusive. IMO better than what R&M is right now.
So apparently the Harmon with his pseudo high concept 6th wall breaking is the cancer here
Just bingewatched the season to Shlorp and back, it was pretty decent all things considered. The main characters don't come across as particularly memorable in terms of design/mannerisms and the initial episodes were on the flaccid side, but as soon as the show settled in and interesting ideas started to pop up it became enjoyable. Definitely far from R&M's heights, but charming and lighthearted enough to complement it like a replicant cousin holding the orange Pupa.
The Wall subplot was pretty ingenious (ep7 ) and the cliffhanger showed promise, I'm on board for S02.

IMO it's better than the last two seasons of RM. Not self masturbating how Harmon can play and deconstruct concepts and tropes.

Bruh. Its available on plex!
You just gotta subscribe to sonarr and it merges hbo max, Netflix, Amazon prime and many other streaming services into a singular app.
Bingeshlorped the second season as well, 'twas entertaining in the usual fast-food-like non-emotionally invested way...until the Wall subplot came back with a bang and turned the tables (culminating with ep7..again!)
Everything that I wrote about the first season applies to the new one also. I don't find the characters inspired but the absurdity of the situations they get themselves into along with all the self-references and pop culture jokes kept the whole thing fresh, it is a nice timewaster.
I've really enjoyed it too. Sort of a family guy/simpsons non-episodic simple comedy feel, with the rick and morty vibe and tone.
But for me the wall part is what the 'meh' part is. I ended up fast forwarding past the wall parts after the first 2-3 of them. To me it doesn't fit the show and/or perhaps detracts, from what the shows slapsticky/absurd comedy main appeal vibe is.
It would be like the simpsons having 1/2 of every few episodes about a serious toned ongoing tangent side story.

Hulu has renewed its Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan-created adult animated sci-fi series “Solar Opposites” for a fourth season well ahead of its third season launch, which is set for 2022.
i came here expecting to see the release date for the show and realized that season 3 is already out, wat?
but this thread was opened basically yesterday, or so i thought, but it was in may 2020 oof, time flies and i m getting old
Just started watching this, already on season 2. I think I like this better than R&M even.
The wall subplot is great, like the ultimate mix of classic action/adventure movie quotes & scenes.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
