Actually you can play online with Hamachi http://www.hamachi.cc/ Hamachi is a great tool to trick games into playing LAN games over the internet.

Doubt it. For SH3 you have to log into Ubisoft servers.

So all the times I have played it over Hamachi it was just my imagination? You don't have to log in for LAN games for SH3. This is a loophole that many games thank god suffer from. Unfortunately developers are getting wise to that and forcing CD checks for LAN games now or they are forcing logging in to Novaworld or other similar services. The only problem with SH3 is that it is rather buggy without the latest patches installed. There seems to be an inconsistant bug that sometimes prevents you from hitting "ready" to start the game with the retail unpatched version. Damned Starforce is delaying NO CDs from being released for the latest patches.
