Why a new PC instead of new MB+CPU+RAMzzzzz+possibly watercooling stuff? Unless by new you meant just that.

I'd only upgrade what was really necessary and then wait for a promo on the rest
But hey your money your choice, now live in the doomed world you have created
And don't bitch about your wahmen now giving you the stink eye for going all in

Oh, wasn't suggesting buying a compatible mobo or another 8086K to figure it out and whatnot. Instead just buying all you'd need to get a working PC again which would be MB, CPU, RAMzzz I guess.

I could always grab something cheaper but if I'm indulging in something like this, I rather do it right with quality products.
We both smoke about the same quantity each as a couple as we generally either smoke together or don't smoke at all ; I'd say it's like 200-300/month for both of us on the regular depending on whatever is available, it can skyrocket during the holidays though
It's not a crazy amount and I cautiously keep it in check, but it still makes a dent in finances in the long run
Gotta stop smoking cigarettes too at some point.. Bad habits ! |
Yeah thats not too bad for 2 persons. I dont like drugs myself, but everyone have their addiction.
One could say that your addiction is bad for your health while me buying stuff is bad for the enviroment. So both are bad in a way i suppose
But tbh you should quit smoking! Life is to short to die cos of it...then again, you could still live to 100 while smoking or die young by getting hit by a car! lol |
That always was my bad justification for pursuing that bad habit "Imagine I get hit by a meteor while living like a monk, how sad would that be !"
But yeah, gotta stop that bad habit before it fucks with our health - more than it already does ! Like you say, it'd leave a sour taste to die too early on because of something so stupid.
Going days/weeks/months without weed is easy tbh, but nicotine is one hell of a bitch Never start kiddos !

Congrats on that new rig; looks sick. Only thing that would worry me is the PSU. I always had the worse experience with Corsair. Especially if we had a blackout. I've probably replaced (for free, which was great, as regards to customer service quality) every single Corsair PSU I've ever bought. After I switched to Seasonic, everything was great.
Rig: i7-5820k, MSI X99 Plus, Corsair 16GB DDR4:3000, Inno3d GTX 1080, Samsung 850 Pro 512GB, Corsair 850i PSU, AOC G2460PG.

I'm guessing the graphics card took up a majority of your budget
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Yeah well, i had the option to get 4090 but changed my mind as i just ordered the 3d printer aswell The 4080 wasnt that expensive though, i think the 1080ti and 2080ti i had cost me pretty much the same |
Wow, you got a solid discount then since the 1080ti cost something like 600-700$ and the 4080 is around 1200$
1 and 2 are still amazing.

@TheZor
Same.
I go with the IT mentality: If everything is working fine, and all features present. Don't fix something that is not broke, by updating firmware/bios on hardware.
Drivers? Sure. Bios/firmware if a bad exploit is exposed? Sure. Nothing wrong and everything works as expected? No reason to arbitrary update a stable system just so you can see revision numbers go up.
