It looks like the previous remake from 2013 and not like original genius best horror-comedy movie Evil Dead. Where are my deadites. Bruce how could you. So far meh...

I must be easily impressed but I thought that trailer was really good!
Admittedly I’ve seen all the Evil Dead movies except for the 2013 remake but I’m hyped for this one. Ive always known the franchise to be more comedy than horror but given the visual effects capabilities these days, this didn’t really look to be comedy at all. The cheese grater scene had me wincing even though we didn’t get to see the aftermath lol. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a horror movie with a cheese grater! The like to dislike ratio says a lot!
Watched the trailer, i have no idea how this is impressive or interesting to anyone. i'm just old i guess. Didn't care for the setting or anything.
The setting 1-2 is so creepy and cool, evil dead 3 was great too, remember seeing it like 3-4 times when it was new. This felt very generic.
Setting is alright if you ask me, but i'm sick of little kids being in the lead. I always hope they get their heads splattered, but it just never ever happens.
Hmm I would say it's maybe a 6-7/10 horror movie (it was like a nu-James Wan movie but with proper violence). It thematically lacks 2/3'rds of the elements that make ED1,2,3 and the TV series good i.e it's not really an evil dead movie. I like they've tried to do something different, i just don't think that different is very good.
Directing / Cinematography: 10.
Violence & Gross: 10
Characters: who?
Story: 3 - this was the most frustrating, Standard ED story is so simple / barely a story, yet somehow here it is a convoluted mess.
Humor: 2
With this franchise, I'm satisfied with the content we got ED123, TV series.. and Drag Me to Hell is the best reboot we've had. Meh enough is never enough anymore, a great franchise but time for something else.
Ya review stands, enjoyment is based on how you feel about "standard". I guess another good comparison is the nu-hellraiser, except the directing and cinematography in this one is exceptionally good and much better.

I don't think Bruce Campbell is a necessity of the franchise either. I really enjoyed 'drag me to hell', and they could easily do a Pablo & Kelly, probably even a ensemble cast vs. Evil Dead.
To simplify further - the fundamental concept of Evil Dead is effectively horror meets 3 stooges.
Spoiler:
if you ditch that concept like in this movie, you have a horror movie with cinematography inspired by Evil Dead. Still it's probably a 6-7/10, i can't see myself watching this one again though.
There’s a lot of releases lately with a surprisingly short delay between the time they hit the cinema and the time there’s a web rip! And may it continue!
