Ooof. I certainly didn't remember this game to be such a dreadfully boring experience. I just played through it again today. I know i loved the hell out of it when it was released. Most of the game is simply exactly the same looking sets of corridors and enemies. A tiny few variations during those 6-8 hours you'll play it. It was hard to keep going, i won't lie.

The gameplay was as good as ever. Ai being unpredictable was certainly awesome and frustrating, and the gunplay was quite good also. BUT there was too much of it. Too many enemies too little scare. The scare elements were sparse and few and quite short. 2 minutes of some eerie sound and some flashy scene before you're set on by a new bunch of 200 soldiers.

Certainly won't play it again. But i'm curious about 2. Never played that.

Running the game on a potato isn't the same as being unoptimized.
