Actually have started to work on getting in garage and making things for other people, maybe even selling somethings on etsy or local art/marketplace weekend locations we have from time to time.
Figured I'd share if anyone cares to see. And Make a thread incase anyone else dabbles in it to share/talk about woodworking stuff. If not, just a place for me to post pics as I feel like if of stuff I made
----
Friend wanted a Ligma sign...inside joke about how he loves those dumb jokes like Ligma, and Deez (deez nutz). I joked he would probably hang a sign that said Ligma in his house, and he said he would totally hang one in his house, so I made him one:
Wife wanted a squared planter/table/stand to fit in the spot near our front door. So made her one that complimented the brick colors of the house with her name custom engraved in it:
Another for a friend whos young daughter likes horses:
And not so much things made. But my plan to replace the 'temp' table setup I quickly made when we moved in, that is now 5 years old. And what I want to make to replace it.
Ignore the hectic messy ass state the pic of what is there now is. Was in there this weekend working and am BAD about cleaning up after when tired and sweaty:
This is one wall of the garage I really need to redo to be more user friendly and utilize space better.
Spoiler:
What I have now:
What I want to properly replace it with:

Haha I do it because if I didn't I'd be a sedentary lifestyle, joints aching old man, that just gets fat and lazy.
Well I still and lazy, and could stand to lose 20 lbs. But at least I trick myself into thinking doing this as a hobby keeps me active and then don't 'need' to go to the gym.
And thanks. I haven't really done any hard/challenging woodworking stuff in ages. I piddled around with spice racks, shelves, and bookcases and the like over the last years. But when I stopped construction and remodeling as a job, I didn't do as much. But now it's more I want to, than feel it reminds me of a job I hated long ago

Find me a 3d STL or image relief of one I can model it for CNC in aspire and I'd be happy too
The horse head itself was on my CNC with multiple layers of relief art I had/found (horse head, celtic circle, and textured backdrop), the 'my hands on part' beyond telling the CNC in what order to do what to make the horse head layers (well and making sure what I told it to cut was centered and the right size and right depth) was: cutting/planing/gluing the wood strips together that made the square, routing the edges, and staining/varnishing it.
Not that the CNC parts wasn't a learning curve, kinda like any wood working tool I guess. But FAR easier than hand carving for sure by a mile.
But learning which bits to use when (up cut, down cut, combo, bull nose, v head) along which which size for what procedure and what feed and speeds to use for what wood and grain.
I have broken a dozen or so worth $50-$100 total learning it...lol
I got a whole little box of tiny broke bits this size
Spoiler:
Also learned a CNC is an AMAZING machine to fling wood across your workshop at high speed if you dont clamp it down well/right and bit bites into it too hard.

Started organizing my garage, never had enough storage space so always had things in the way of other things on any flat surface as I shuffled shit around out of the way of other things. As you can see in the pics...lol
So made some drawers!
Making 18 drawers by myself was more time consuming than I expected. But glad I got them done. 0.6m x0.6m [2 feet x 2 feet] each in size so plenty deep and wide to hold shit.
Floor and area is a mess, and sawdust EVERYWHERE. Ignore that, no matter how often I clean it after about 4 hours out there it looks like that. How people on youtube have workshops that always look like it was just deep cleaned I have no idea
One is a husky roll around thing I added drawers to:
Spoiler:
The other is a whole rollable workspace I made with a removable top (top comes off with 4 bolts if I ever need to replace it):

Fuck that, if I wanted people on the internet to know what I look like I'd have an instagram
My facebook doesn't even have pics of me LOL. Last time I took/had a pic of me took was like 10 years ago. Im nearly 50 now, no one wants to see an out of shape 50 year old dude.

Haven't updated in a while. As I'm pretty sure this threads majority of activity is me posting in it.
But only 'social' place I do online is here. Don't do reddit or twitter/whatever, so you guys get my mundane updates
And most what I have made is random shit for around the house and nothing worth posting. Or at least I dont think it is. Mostly obligatory 'if you do workworking you must do these' things. Stuff like a spice rack I think everyone must make if they woodwork, along with the same for a cutting board for wife, and a planter/potted plant rack for wife garden.
Along with 2 random end tables for next to our bed, a picnic table for a friend, and basic shit.
But picked up a CNC laser to add to my list of garage shop tools.
Got the laser setup and working on dialing in the settings for gradient ranges (so not too dark or light, can see it's burning WAY too dark now those are supposed to be varying shades of grey to black).
WAY more smoky than I expected. If anyone wants to feel like you are standing near a campfire come stand in my garage with the door shut
Also tried it on metal business cards, it works good.

I've seen those vids on YT, about woodworking. I really would like to be able to build nice furniture for example. For now I have a hammer, some low quality chisels, saws, and there is no nice wood. So it is not going to happen soon. I wish you the best though.

Thats all you need. Back when I was poor I had a 2nd hand circular saw, some chisels that you couldn't cut warm butter with. A handful of mismatched screwdrivers, a jigsaw and some hand tools.
I'd either get pallet wood or pickup any furniture I saw people throwing away that was made of solid wood (dressers, bookshelves, shelves, etc) and use it for materials to make random shit with.
Also houses being remodeled is a good place to scavenge old usable wood from. I've gotten whole sets of oak and birch boards from them tossing out wood from redoing a fireplace mantle, or built in bookshelves they tore out.
