Is the US the only country with this weird paranoia?
Every halloween or two, news stories about checking your kids candies because 'people' are out there putting free drugs in kids baskets.
And around Christmas, random stories about being careful who your kids take Christmas treats from, people are spiking them with drugs. And just saw a news piece walking past the TV (why I typed this) about new years. And these same people handing out drinks to young drinking age kids full of drugs.
All in some attempt to get them hooked it seems.
What drug dealer is giving out 100's or 1000's of dollars worth of drugs to random kids? Who out there is dealing and has 100's of pills of molly/X/MDMA/MDA; or Ketamine or LSD just tossing them out like beads at mardi gras to strangers kids?
How do the paranoid people think that works?: They hand out random drugs to young kids without telling them for free at their own expense, that the kids dont know its a drug, take it and somehow not only know what it is that they took, that they want more, AND figure out who gave it to them to go buy more with that no money they have to support a drug habit at 12 years old?
If you tossed a molly in with a box of skittles. Would the kid not think it was the skittles that did it, and if so inclined go buy a lot of skittles? (a joke, but at least seems more far fetched logical than what they think would happen).
I've heard this story every year almost since I was a teen. I have never know a person that deals in that volume of drugs, that would give them out for free randomly to suspects in that way, in hopes they get a new child customer...
Where are all these free drug people? Some people I know, for better or worse, that would trick or treat and go to more holiday gatherings if it meant they did not pay for them.

That's what I thought.
I happens nearly every year: Shady drug dealers are giving away drugs to kids, without the kids knowing it.
Is this a US only thing? I dont really know if parents are like this in other places.
Where is this notorious Drug Fairy? Who thinks a drug dealer that deals in that amount of drugs to start with, is so bad at understanding how to make money off his product he is just giving it to strange kids in such quantities without telling them?
Or is there drug dealers out there with 1000's of extra pills going "This is too many, I need to offload these for free, without anyone knowing and I get nothing out of it".
Its like the old 80s D.A.R.E thing we was shown where the scenario is some strange dude I never met, walks up to me as a kid asking if I want some free cocaine. And to always tell him no. Who has EVER had a rando walk up to you on the street and offer $50 worth of coke for free??
Not that I ever did coke, but I sure as hell never met anyone, that had a magical Nose Candy Santa hand us a bag of coke and walk off...
Can anyone name someone that got home, reached in their pocket and went "Where did this bag of white powder and straw come from? Guess I will try it."

Never happened here at least. But knowing Norway Halloween would probably become illegal if it started happening often.

It's never happened here, at least no reports of it actually being a thing found.
It's like the razor blades in candy story. Lots of people know it, no one can find a report of it happening.

You can find all the free cocaine in containers in Rotterdam or Antwerp harbour.
You just need to know what container to look for and then fetch it.
What can possibly go wrong?
