I'm thinking about buying Galaxy watch 5 pro and i have never had anything like this before. It seems quite awesome, but you never know with the shilling going around everywhere so personal experiences are always best.

I'm wearing a Xiaomi Mi band 4 for a couple of years now. My main goal of wearing one is basically checking if I excercise enough every day. So step counting, tracking my running sessions, etc. Being able to check you notifications quickly and seeing who's calling without taking your phone of your pocket is also nice to have.
Since I'm taking my health and exercise more serious I'm going to upgrade to a Garmin ForeRunner 255. They are one of the best when it comes to health and exercise tracking.
If you plan to use a smartwatch for none of the fitness stuff, you can't go wrong with a Watch 5 imo.

Thanks for the reply, I plan to use it mostly for fitness too, but as i own a Samsung s22 ultra i'd like full functionality. It just sounds nice getting those trackers and leave that damn phone home and bring spotify through your clock and go for a run

What extra options would you have if you would go for a Watch 5 instead of a Garmin?
I haven't checked that many reviews of the Galaxy, but to make a good decision defenitly check how accurate the GPS and heart rate sensor are. I know from the ForeRunner 255 that it has a dual band GPS and the heart rate sensor is improved again and on par with a chest band heart rate sensor.

I have been using Fitbit Charge 5 for a few months mainly to record my skateboarding sessions. Paid ~100€ as I don't wear watches, but wanted a minimal fitness tracker with built-in GPS. After using a whole summer, I noticed that open water swimming GPS tracking is either not accurate or even GPS is lost if my hand was under water for too long. Went for a few runs always the same route and felt that trees were blocking GPS signal sometimes at the start. Participated in a marathon with a few thousand runners, noticed GPS kicked in only after 500 meters after every runner spread out in the area. Checked friends profiles on Strava, everyone who had cheaper or Samsung/Apple watches had the same problem.
If I would choose today a new fitness tracker, I would definitely go for higher end Garmin Forerunner or Fenix. Garmin probably has the best sensors. Samsung/Apple watches will feel like a toy compared to Garmin. But I'm not sure if I want to spend 3-4 more times what I paid for Fitbit for something I use only for fun. I always carry my phone, except for swimming and skateboarding, which has better GPS. I keep an eye on Garmin Fenix prices once in a while and maybe do an upgrade next year.

at first i had a xiaomi mi band (4 i think) and i loved it in the beginning. the battery was going for weeks, you couldn't notice it on the wrist while wearing it, so small and lightweight and i had a new toy to play with for a very cheap price.
sadly the app and also the built in tracking features weren't as good back then, maybe it's better now but i guess still worse then something pricier.
so at one point i switched to a galaxy watch 42mm, because i wanted something better.
it does look better, the build in sensors/features, software and app are much better, but it's also way more heavier then before and the battery only last about 2-4 days, if you use it much it's more 1-2 days.
i used the mi band all day, even while sleeping to track my sleep, so i tried the same with the watch, but it's impossible. you just can't wear it at night, they give you great sleep tracking, but it's just too bulky to use. i also noticed it over the day, that it was just heavy on the wrist for no reason at all, since most of features i didn't need.
but it was a new toy so i used it for half a year or so and since then, i put it on maybe once a month. the mi band was also never used since i bought the galaxy watch.
if i ever buy something again, it will be small and lightweight like the mi band, but it has to have a good app and good sensors. i don't want step counters which just count random bullshit.
The Galaxy Fit2 maybe, but it's too old already and doesn't have the newest features. Maybe if they release a 3rd version.
I don't know you, but seeing your comments, i guess you just want a new toy or something to play with. You will probably use the features you named in your posts 2-3 times and then never again. i would say it's not worth the money.

Hmm, i haven't exactly said what i'll use it for. I'll use it for sleep tracking, blood pressure, heart rate monitor, fitness tracker. All these things are good to have. In addition to leaving the damn phone at home and bring only a bottle of water, my ear buds and my clock. Clothes stay home too

I got a Samsung 3 I got for cheap from a friend. I like it a lot. I also have a s22 phone.
But I use it for the bare basics: A watch, and to ding when my phone gets an email/message so I dont have to carry my phone around the house all the time.
I also use it for the same as you wanting to: sleep tracking, blood o2, heart rate monitor. since im suppose to keep an eye on it said my doc. Its accurate enough to be reliable. May not be doctor office level of exact, but its damn close enough to be relevant. I set them to 'auto' and just check the results every now and then.
I dont use any of the advanced stuff it can do. I dont have the mobile connection added to it I have to be in bluetooth range of my phone..which is fine, it reminds me when Im leaving if I forgot my phone. Also dont use it to talk on like a phone, or any of the other things.

Wife has an apple watch. It's butter smooth, display is nice and it lasts like 1.5 days on a full charge. Totally unusable for me My simple "smart" watch with basic tracking, sleep analysis, bluetooth connection to the phone to display incoming messages etc lasts WAY above 3 weeks on a charge and it doesn't look as fancy but it was also less than a fifth of the price of her watch...

@PumpAction
Same I charge mine like once a week, I myself couldn't fuss with a watch I need to charge every day or so.
But as I said I use my watch, like I use my phone: For the thing it's actually called first (a phone, or a watch). So as an actual watch for the major purpose of it, with the addons of it beeps if my phone gets an email, or rings if I get a call. Also for the basic health stuff since it doesnt seem to drain much battery to leave them on.

I used to wear one for GPS while on a motorbike. It was really helpful... when it worked. Simply look at wrist and know where to go. An utter nightmare when it'd stop syncing with the phone in the middle of an unknown city (both Samsung were branded)
Sold it after maybe 6 months. Can't be bothered with a watch that needs charging every 1/2 days. Already have to do that with a phone, mouse, headphones etc.

Had the same problem when i was in amsterdam with my phone. Maps were worthless.
The charging thing is a serious downside indeed. I'll see what i'll prioritize.

I have Garmin Epix2. Use it for biking and running. Has multi band GPS and battery life is amazing. Charges pretty quick too. Only downside was price but I got for $800.
I have all notifications turned off so. Use it more as a fitness tracker.
I also used Galaxy Watch 4 for couple of months and it was good watch as well. Fitness tracking was quite accurate. And battery was pretty good from what I remembered but I always turn off always on display.
