Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán transform into Morticia and Gomez Addams in a first look at the gruesome brood of Netflix's upcoming series, Wednesday.
Jenna Ortega will portray the eponymous Wednesday, while Isaac Ordonez will portray her brother Pugsley.
Filmmaker Tim Burton will direct four of the eight episodes, as well as executive produce the comedy horror series from creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough (Smallville). It marks his first foray into television.
She is the only reason to watch this show and the beautiful shots from Romania. Everything else is subpar. It's a childish show with questionable writing and average production value.
Wednesday was intrigued by the macabre by her dark nature, but she never was the cause of death. They made dark and brooding, into dark and sinister.
She killed a pool full of kids and Gomez and Morticia, especially Gomez, just glosses over it and doesn't care and talks her up about her new school? Gomez may be weird, and eccentric, but dont think he would be ok with her or Pugsley just killing groups of people.
Part of what made The Addams family parents endearing was their strange yet correct understanding of morality, despite being assumed they would have none by how they are. (As in the ooold original show when Wednesday was having issues with schoolmates Gomez said "No my dear, never, they are the rotten apples, not you.").
Part of her charm is she doesn't need to resort to the 'boring old' kill people you dislike. She can just make you feel like you wish you was dead.
An indifferent personality with a sharp tongue is turned just straight into apathetic murderer with a sharp tongue. At least by the trailer they just made Wednesday a female version of Anton Chigurh with witty comments (and for some reason all the big eyed sideways looks and side eye stares of Aubrey Plaza.)
Sure, the Addams family was just a light hearted comedy show. But they are taking the starke dichotomy of the characters away, that made it a show that lasted in memory for 60+ years away.

was pretty much a one man type of show, her performance is very good, the whole show is a mystery whodunnit type of show, nothing that special but still was worth it for her. tim burton directed the first 4 ep
I mean she's pretty decent, but i guess i'm used to shows where you don't follow just one person, gets a bit boring. It's also not especially exciting since she's pretty much invincible.
Harry Potter but in the Addams Family universe pretty much.

She didn't kill a pool full of kids. One guy lost a testicle, they talk about it later in the show.
Still not in the theme or vibe of the Addams family (to me).
The entire original show was about an eccentric and different acting and looking family with odd habits, that was despite their appearances MORE civilized and morally honest than the rest of humanity (well other that uncle fester, he was borderline and Gomez and Morticia constantly lovingly but sternly scowling at him for his hobbies).
They was just a more gothic-y version of the munsters: A pretty respectable group of people that was simply misjudged by how the looked and lived. NOT a group that lived up to how they was assumed to be by that.
That single line is so out of character about her acting like she doesn't care if people dislike her, but she actually enjoys it. That was her charm of 'being different' is she DIDNT care one way or the other. Animosity was a thing she lacked (sarcastic indifference is not animosity), and not a thing she was proud of. Wednesday was morose, but not malevolent.
Gomez would be appalled one of his children let flesh eating fish into a pool of children as revenge. He might applaud the creativity, but disavow the act itself as it goes beyond an innocent prank earned by someone, at their own expense.
The 1960's show had a whole episode on both parents teaching Wednesday it was wrong (for something or the other at school) that she was planning to get petty revenge with Uncles help, on the blonde girl that made fun of her.

It's not a bad show, but it borrows heavily from other franchises, most notably Harry Potter.
The one thing that annoyed me the most is that she's a Marie Sue, even when they try to justify some of it, especially in the first couple of episodes. Speaks half a dozen languages, read all literary classics, perfect archer, perfect fencer, perfect musician, etc. Yet it takes her 8 episodes to solve the mystery Perhaps it was like that in the other adaptations, although I don't really remember her being anything else that a creepy gothic kid.
I do want to see the 90s movie again now 🙂
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
The Jenna Ortega-starring “Wednesday” has been a massive, record-breaking hit for Netflix, and the streamer has announced today that “Wednesday” Season 2 is soon on the way!
I really liked this one (much to my own suprise)
At first i was abit anoyed on how gomez looked, but i read that he is actually supposed to look more like that than the kind of gomez we are used to see.
Overall it was a good suprise.
