metal is so cringy, typical and uninteresting.
The game looks great though

The isodemo has been out for a few days (Valfaris-HOODLUM), after ~6 hours of constant sweating, dioporcos and a ridiculous number of deaths I just finished slaying all the beasts. It was definitely entertaining in its own pew-y 'n slashy way based on sadistic trial and error, almost like the heavy metal version of Cuphead with teardrops and harmless clouds being replaced by flying intestines and body parts.
The pixel art is superb with all the environments oozing rotten viscerality (plus, every kill feels meaty as hell) and even though the levels are straightforward, there are tonnes of different enemies and bosses which keep the sidescrolling fresh. It does have some issues with the balance (the enemy respawning also can be damned infuriating) and as often happens in these cases the gamepad is the recommended choice, but it's an old-school formula cranked up to eleven that works well in my opinion. Just be prepared to taste some genuine leather whip!
HOW
I dropped it 7 minutes after starting, couldnt stomach. It was exactly the same borefest as their previous game.
Hehe, I was in the mood for a linear gory run and gun and this one ticked that box. I didn't like Slain either despite it sharing many similarities with Valfaris, but with such a simple formula I found the 8-directional shooting a lot more fitting and engaging than just bashing folks in the head. Glory to the flamethrower
I think I've played it no pc as well? Really liked it if it's the one I remember. You could take cover interact with other npc as well... Nice memories indeed!
Valfaris is a savagery of bleeding pixels, gore and heavy metal. This outrageous mix makes for an amazing action platformer which I wholeheartedly recommend despite its dated aim mechanics.
Pros:
+ Brilliant aesthetic design
+ Fast paced and visceral action
+ Fantastic heavy metal soundtrack
+ Gore
Cons:
– Dated aiming mechanics
– Most bosses explode on death
Finished this today. Great game! I loved the level design and weapons.
Overall it wasn't too hard. Only the final boss.. that fucker must have taken me 6 hours or so.
Also going full Shoot ‘em up, that's awkward but I imagine the devs wanted to change things up a bit. Hopefully, it will still work as a mindless pewpew-y time waster.
