|
 |
I asked this in a thread in the PC forum, but clearly this is a better place to ask. My coworker is going to Argentina for a month today. Is there a way I can get her to buy me Xbox currency or game codes while she's there and then use them on or to add games to my US account? I have a VPN so could activate on PC, just not sure what protections are in place.

I'm pretty sure I bought a code for The Witcher 3 Complete from Eneba that was from ARG a year or so back, did something change?

Some games are not region locked, so codes work internationally. But gift cards are region locked:

Literally took me one search of "xbox live gift card region locked” in Google to come up with this as the top result. Are you familiar with this magical concept of searching on the internets with Google?

Stupid me was searching for possible workarounds, knowing full well that this is something that, if it is possible, then the official xbox website isn't going to be the place to go to for confirmation of such. In fact, what was I thinking stacking 36 months of Brazilian Xbox Live Gold cards on my US account for $90 instead of $180, before doing the $1 GPU trick when the Xbox website didn't tell me to do that?
If you'd just ended your reply at "Game cards are probably not region locked, but currency cards are" it would have been just as informative. Have a good weekend.

Official websites are often informative. News at 11. If you worded your question as “I know gift cards are region locked, but is there a workaround?”, maybe you would have gotten better responses?
