This is probably a silly question, however I just wonder is it possible to share hardware over a home network?

e.g. get one computer to use the sound card of the other computer?

You can share hardware over the net like printers, scanner or storage eg. a NAS. To share a soundcard from another computer is not possible.

Well.... not in the way you put it. But its possible to come up with similar effects (much easier on *nix as you can directly and fully control another system by command line..).. What exactly are you trying to accomplish, I'm sure people can provide you with applications which will bring something close to that operability!

to play music events from "PC1" to "PC2".

PC1 doesnt have a sound card...

if that makes any sense? Smile

how would you get the sound "out" on PC2? it would need speakers, and doesnt have a "spk out" ... hmm maybe i got it all wrong lol..

yeah PC2 has speakers etc... i have both computers on all day... just a shame there's complications Wink
