Tried it... IT JUST WORKS!

"Ratting" (from DVD to ratdvd) is about 1/2 real-time and "unratting" is about real time (P4 3GHz). Quality is close to the original (tried on 8 movies so far).

RATDVD is the coming format. Complete DVDs instead of "just" the (or a?) main title. This program REALLY ROCKS!!!
Very Happy

I got a 4gb DVD down to roughly 800mb. Very good compression, just takes so damn long. Sad

Well ... there have been some 'test' ratdvds posted to usenet. While they are pretty cool, and an upgrade to divx/xvid (in terms of maintaining dvd structure), I'd say that they aren't quirte there yet. I'd still rather get a 4+ gb dvd then getting a half asses ratdvd just because it's smaller.

Definetely a step in the right direction. It will be interesting to see how this improves, providing they don't get shut down by the MPAA or whoever.

I got 1,2 GB ratDVD from 7.8GB DVD. Quality is fine - there is a little loss but I would say it is comparable to a DVDShrink copy.

Anyway, with my DSL I would prefer to download 5-6 ratDVDs in the same time otherwise a complete DVD would take. XviD/DivX is not an option anymore...
