No, this is not about Will and Jada 'G. I. Jane 2' Pinkett Smith navigating in a post-slap world, this is a remake of the movie, of course, color washing all the roles from white to else.
Couldn't find a topic on this. It's a very odd storytelling, but is surprisingly amusing, Every episode has a cameo from a relatively known actor, but don't get too attached,
i liked it, but the action scenes were meh, just couldnt see them as spies/killers. i think the movie did a much better job balancing between comedy/action with believable leads
That's another problem I have. At times, when script calls for it, they are very competent, hitting all the Italian hitmen while running and driving, but then, again, when the script calls for it, they fail in spectacular ways, for comedic effect. Some works, some doesn't. A lot of hit and miss, which applies in general with this novella.
Its a full blown Atlanta continuation in style/team but lacking any sorts of chemistry between leads. Action scenes were fun, but the forced love aspect and drama didnt work at all and was a huge drag.
I didn't like it except the other Smiths episode. For me it was very bleak. I wrote about it in other topic.
As goes for the girl it is stated in the series she was a sociopath.

b: the use or language of sarcasm
Yeah, I could see Waller-Bridge being a good sassy partner for Gambino and them forming a relationship due to their quirks. But the asian girl was devoid of charisma. She acted like Random Female Doctor from Grey's Anatomy.
Yep that's why I mentioned her. I watched Atlanta for a couple of episodes and didn't like it
Atlanta is a preservation of time exercise, it's different from episode to episode like an anthology of original ideas by the team. No doubt it will become a classic piece in some decades but is glanced over by most in our age.
Highly recommended to watch through the whole thing while there is still sense of connection to Glover's storyteller journey (Mr/Mrs Smith included) and before it feels outdated. Least to say it feels impossible for something similar to be made in 2024.
It popped careers of Brian Tyree Henry who you see as a comic relief character in every movie now and LaKeith Stanfield who tries more serious roles over at Apple.
