It seems they wanna stray away from more authored single campaign. Hmm. I hope the singleplayer campaign wont be just a sequnce of skirmish matches until we conquer the whole map. The old Rise of Legends has a good take on this idea, a strategic overmap where you were in control of what you will do next, but still, authored mission, all of them. Hope for the best. I wish they'd showed the africa theatre of war, much more interesting visually

They had something similar in a DLC for CoH2, I think it was the Ardennes campaign. The missions were actual missions, not just skirmishes. Of course, they can do it differently here.
The game looks good. Gonna try to signup for the alpha later or tomorrow because right now it doesn't seem possible.
This was the series that spoiled RTS games for me. After Company of Heroes everything else felt so pale in comparison... It's great that they are releasing a 3rd game.
The pre-alpha actually has a decent amount of content: a campaign and some simple skirmish scenarios to get you familiar with the game... which will already feel familiar to you if you've played CoH 2. No, you can't play as Axis yet. The campaign features a strategic map where you can plan separate engagements. It's set in Italy and its pinnacle is the battle at Monte Cassino. I wonder what else it will offer later on as this battle was the largest engagement in the whole Italian theater.
Gameplay-wise it seems that they have largely abandoned the aspect of constructing buildings (I'll miss it). Another thing I've noticed is that now weapons are universally accurate - no misses, no ricochets etc. Maybe they'll change this in the future. So far it looks somewhat promising and with enough effort it will shape out as a worthy successor of the series.
As for the die-hard CoH 1 fans: don't get your hopes up. At this point, I doubt that any RTS can surpass it anyway.
I was half-expecting a complete travesty so the fact that it still retains an authentic-ish tone is comforting, though it is evident that the vintage engine is being pushed to its limits. Fingers crossed, hope the single-player campaign will be as solid as they claim.
I played the alpha, it's rough around the edges, but it's heading in the right direction. One year is more than enough to polish this and add the required content.
My concerns arose as I read the minimum game requirements. 8th generation is required. I do not know the differences in CPU generations apart from the higher clock speed
When I have some time, I will check if it works
that's bollocks. the only way to make that a requirement is by making the game windows 11 exclusive. otherwise that i5-8400T requirement is just a point of reference. I don't think there's much difference between that and my i5-6600 or other, similar cpus

Theres nothing similar between an 8400 and your 6600. The 8th gen chip is vastly more powerful. Not exactly the same chip in this pic, but we get the ideea
I dont think they're refering to not being able to run the game. Its probably about the power needed. RTS games usually take more cpu grunt do to their nature. I wouldnt worry too much at this point. The game is one and a half years away. Quite literally in the middle of development
Damn, game looks good! I loved the first CoH but didn't like the 2nd one. Hearing that this one kinda goes back more towards first CoH roots, should be good.
