Just to let you guys know, this game will be released on a dual-layered DVD. I just read that in a post made by one of the creators on their official site.
Quote: | Of course reviews are nerve-racking! We want people to like our game because our motive is to entertain you. There is a lot of pressure for games to review well, and they are all so subjective. But, hey, we are really happy with how the game turned out. We have a lot of fun playing it. Everyone told us that it was impossible. They said that we could not make a game like Advent Rising with the small budget, team, and amount of time that we had. Heck, lots of people said we couldn’t pull off any of the things we wanted to do even if we had a big budget, a big team, and 3 to 5 years!
The game is presented in a widescreen format on normal televisions. If you have HD, then play it in 480. Not only does it look better, but it has native widescreen. Very nice!
As far as framerate in review code: the game has a pretty dang good framerate. It will dip occasionally, but its not so low that it hurts the gameplay. That being said, Advent has so much content that the retail version has to be a dual-layered dvd. This is awesome for you because we crammed in a ton of stuff. This is bad for reviewers because Microsoft is the only place that burns these special dual-layered dvd’s and then sends them straight to manufacturing. Those disks are what you can buy today. Review builds obviously have to go out before today, so reviews get a 2 disk version of the game that does run a little slower than the retail version. Sucks, but whatcha gonna do?
We wanted the melee to look very stylized, exaggerated, and comic booky. I think it makes for some really cool moves and action moments. I guess that reviewer does not agree. Hopefully by the end of the game he thinks its cool instead of “not looking right”. |

dual layer god dang
As for framerate, the 360 version runs smooth, while the PS3 is a jaggy mess that chugs along in slow motion.

I would be careful of this title, I've been hearing storys that the game may actually screw up none standard machines. More than one story of people having their hdd's screwed on their xbox.
I don't know if it's true of course.

How is that possible? It doesnt seem likely. Do you have any links to these rumours? Has anyone tried the game yet? Can anyone confirm this? lol

I would say a 4.7Ggb ISO makes it dual layer.

Just played it for like 30 minutes, no problems running it of HD for me. Anyway, this game has some horrendous framerate problems which is definitely not a good sign since I only played it for a very short amount of time. There's also tearing all over the place which makes me wonder how this game could have been shipped in this sort of shape.
Oh well, gonna put some more hours into it later today...

Cool! Gonna check it out when I get home! So the rumours of it screwing up non standard machines were just that? Rumours? |
For me they are, yeah. No problems here.
Surely this game is no uber hit and definitely should have gone through some more quality checks, but it's okay if you leave those technical quirks aside.
