System link rocks, I too am pissed off that the only game I really play on my xbox could have easily had system link, but instead its Live only
Will be a shame to see system link go, the only up side would be the xbox live silver so its free for live on some weekends.

HOw the hell can it suck?
It's almost the same thing as live, but there's no servers involved, if you don't like fine, but they at least have it on evry game that supports live....
I would kill to play Kingdom under fire on sys link!

with software like xbconnect and kai kicking about. its basically free live for system link games. your always guarenteed a game of Halo2 or gotham on kai at least . and you can easily arrange meets for other sys link games with online friends . So I can see one reason why there showing it the door .
Also it may encourage people whom lets say live in a flat who often play games via system link to subscribe to live. Maybe offer discounts to multiple accounts or something along those lines
Who knows maybe some wifi tunneling stuff will come out to forge a second connection to the game and play Split screen :S

finally i have company of people who feel the same way i do also. Pisses me off big time. Let's not start with EA, kings of no system link support. If that is what MS is doing for the xbox360 it wouldn't be a smart move at all. JUst like ya'll my friends and i get together once a month to play halo 2, ghost recon 2, time splitters FP and have a good time. Not everyone is will to pay for internet connection and then pay for another online service. MS should reconsider if that is really true. There's nuff game i refuse to play even the single player because there is no system link. For example when Battle Field modern combat (EA) comes out i wouldn't even waste my time with that can't find any info on system link so it probably don't have it. Then you have released today Delta Force Black Hawk Down no mention of system link either. I just don't get it.

They should be frigging glad people were receptive to their system link idea. now they are gonna alienate people. There's alot of people out there who don't really follow consoles technically but just for the games liike some of my friends. but i'm sure people are wanting to buy it because of the newer features plus they are expecting system link also i know nuff people will be bent outta whack. They just gotta realize not everyone is into the online stuff. Me for one leaves the online stuff mostly for my PC.

Well put, I agree with your previous post as well
Who are they to tell me or anyone else "IN ORDER TO PLAY YOU MUST USE XBOX GAY LIVE ONLY"
What's next, in order to start the xbox, your enforced to be online?
Im sitting on a high bandwith, 10-12mb, that doesn't mean it's ok or anythying, since most of my m8's are NOT using any Internet connection, hell sometimes not even a computer. It's easy if they got live, then give em sys link as well..

Bad excuse, no a terrible/LAME excuse (not you, ms) I couldn't give a rat's ass what they think or not, if they are expecting a customer to pay 50-60 for a new game they should stfu and give us sys link (yeah a bit bitching eh)
BTW Kai has a LOT of "legal" users on it... Kai good example of tunneling software, I don't use xbc since it's full of halo 2 fanboys who can't play anything else....
Dammit!!! 2 of my favo game's and I can't play em on sys link...

Exactly GP Force, paying such high prices for a game then to realize shit i could only experience multiplayer is online or those online only games with no system link what the hell. And by doing that it is gonna cause their system to be hacked to death. Don't know if this is possible, but i'm sure somebody one day will be able to come up with a way to simulate xbox live. Instead of connecting to the xbox live servers it will be re-routed to whatever tunnelling system there is out there. Making there machine more attractive to modders or hackers. Give the people what they want not what you MS think they want. Why Businesses operate on that model puzzles me sometimes. It's almost like they are insulting our intelligence and saying they don't know what they want so we will treat them like little kids and make a decision for them. The silver service is a good idea on xbox live but is that gonna stop people from using tunneling services or modding their xboxes to play backups, NO. Sometimes i think the people who run these companies study so much shit that they just throw their common sense or lack there of out the window.

Game's that could have system link, but only have LIVE
Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders, FORCED xb Live
Full spectrum Warrior, Forced xb LIVE
Game's that are great who has sys link support:
Ghost Recon 2
Splinter Cell Chaos theory
So in all, there's like 5 games who has sys link out of what, 800 xbox games?
Hey MS realise there's a LOT of people who doesn't have INTERNET access in evry home they own. Im usually traveling to a few m8's who doesn't even own computers instead they bought an xbox.
Then we have morons (people) who thinks when you mention co-op or somethign else they reply with "split screen sux" well you fool were talking about sys link...
Imagine having 4 xbox's, 4 telly's and a few beers+great games = fun |
Umm.... I believe there are more games that support system link than xbox live multiplayer. There are MANY MANY system link games, don't know what you're talking about. |
Don't know what im talking about, >read my post
I can mention a lot of sys link games, that no one are playing because they are horrible. If they got Live they should have sys if the game is a M U L T I player!

Exaclty i for one like four player splitscreen system link. call of duty what the hell one person per xbox per screen, that is just dumb. why waste the time to bring over just four friends to play, and bring all that load. I have always said for FPS they should make it 4 way splitscreen system link mandatory it just makes sense.

So you really like playing games with a resolution of 180x144? Cause that is what you get with 4-player splitscreen...

While resolutin makes a difference to some people, to me i don't play on any TV smaller than 32 inch so the screen size is pretty descent. can't complain there. But i have friends who play halo 2 recreationally and don't play online, so the four splitscreen system link does us well.

Didn't mean the actual size of the screen, but rather the bluriness you get with that low resolution. Imagine trying to decide if that brown pixel is a distant barrel or enemy
But as you pointed out it is all a matter of taste and preference really.
